Hi, I have a Pentax KX with 2 x lenses
52mm DAL18-55MM f3.5-5.6AL Also a 58mm DAL55-300mm F4-5.8, I'm looking at buying some ND Filters what would you all suggest the screw on circular type or the flat type that go into the holder adapter, and for which lens would you buy them 52mm or 58mm
m
Many Thanks

If you buy the slot in type (e.g. hitech, lee etc) then they will work across all lens ranges and filter sizes.
All you have to do is get 1 filter holder then a bunch of different size filter rings for the adaptor (52, 58,mm etc) which can be had for a couple of each
This is the most versatile system when you are dealing with different lens thread sizes.

Here's an example in this picture

I use screw-ins because when i'm trying to get really shallow DiF when using flash. II just find them easier to use on the lenses I've bought them to fit..... No danger of them falling out of a holder and they're less bulky on the front of the lens.

However, like said previously, unless all your lenses are the same size, you end up spending a fortune. That's where slot-ins like the Cokins and Lees come in

Thanks Specialman and Stupar for you thoughts,I think the circular ones are easier n more practical but on the other hand slot in holder ones would probably be better and cheaper for my set up

Are you talking about ND filters, or ND Grads?

Generally speaking, screw-in for ND, and square for ND Grads so that you can adjust the position of the grad line, as per Stupar's pic
