ND Filters 6 stop or 7 stop

Anyone have a preference on a 6 or 7 stop? Any noticeable differences other than 1 stop? i.e in quality or general usability. I'll probably get a Hitech but Lee or other 100mm ones might be an option depending on comments.

I think the issue is that a filter isnt guaranteed to be exact anyway ie you could buy a 6 stop that is nearly 7 stops anyway. For example some lee 10 stoppers are reported to actually be 11 stops.

In terms of brands I'd recommend either Hitech Firecrest or Lee.

Not really answering your question but Santa brought me a Hitech Firecrest 6 stopper. It's a joy to use with no colour cast at all. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

As is the Hoya Pro HD 10 stopper.

No colour cast, unlike the expensive and crap Tiffen filters.
