Hi, need some advice on what filters to get, have to get them today as need them for Monday.
Only have a jessops or Lca in my area,
Ive taken a few shots where I've blown the sky,and I want to try stoping water
Ect.
What are the best general filters that are a balance for most things.
I've a 10-20 simga and a 105 nikor.will be looking for something like a 35 mm later on .

For pulling back skies you'll want some ND grads, for milky water a solid ND filter.

A set of drop in filters is what you need. Entry level is Cokin, the next step up is Hitech, the best are Lee, depending on budget. You'll need a filter holder and adaptor rings for each lens you use (you might be lucky and have lenses with the same filter size which will cut down on cost).

I would have thought at the wide end of your 10-22 you might suffer from vignetting with 85mm filters (Cokin P Series) but I don't know.

I found i could stop water with an ND2 grad and it also pulled back the sky quite well.

I have the 10-20 mm F3.5 Sigma which has an 82 mm filter size. I was advised to go for the Cokin ZPro series to avoid any vignetting.
I cannot comment further as my order has yet to arrive, other than a 77 mm ring lol!!
