Yes
Tried to setup a new business account with them online yesterday morning and spent all day yesterday and today trying to reach them on the phone to complete the application but nobody answers the phone and no other department or the branch can help. This is insane!

Has anyone else experienced this? Didn't used to be like this in the past. Gave up and going with tsb because they answer their phones.

When I started my company about 6 years ago I booked in to the branch and did it. Might be easier.

I used to do the same but the branch can't do it anymore, all centralised apparently. Finally got an email to request a call back conveniently after I spent time going through a whole new application with tsb.

Yes - went through all the hoops and at the very end was told I would be phoned to finish the setup. That never happened - that was nearly 2 years ago - and not a single iota of communication regarding the account since by any means, not even when I've popped in branch about other things.

I eventually got an email where I could request a call back which they actually did. Then after going through everything on the phone they said because it's NatWest and we are in Scotland she couldn't deal with this! Only RBS. So I said let's do that as I also have personal and business accounts with them.

Went through it all again only for her to end up saying it was going to be rejected! Lol She couldn't give me a reason nor could she understand why it was going to be rejected. Crazy. No credit required or anything, just a straightforward account to pay money into and pay wages and suppliers out. Myself and other Directors all have perfect credit histories etc so what on earth does it take to get an account with them?

I think I'll just go with tsb when the paperwork comes through. What a complete waste of my time.

Just a thought but given how banks share info on concurrent / frequent credit applications and in turn that affect your ratings these days, I know you said not looking for credit but.... , maybe the rejection was because the system detected your other application to tsb thereby looking like some sort of multi application fraud? Only guessing but may be worth asking beforehand at wherever you try next so it can either be expunged or at least so you do not compound the situation?

Could be but then how would they know when one has been rejected or not because naturally you will then try another bank? TSB also rejected so I'm suspecting it's the industry type flagging up concerns.

I'm not going to bother with any more of the regular high street banks, their service towards businesses is very poor anyway.

TSB confirmed it was the industry type so probably the same reason for RBS. Oh well, live and learn.
