has anyone had any dealings with nationals using pics for web only... mirror or daily mail in particular..

this is pics sent in ...
 
Mail used one of mine back along (not sport). Came up first on the web, then in print a day or two later. They only wanted to pay for web use! £40, I think was the offer. Took a while, but they came up with £120 in the end.

(That probably doesn't help even a little bit... :p )
 
Yeagh it does help thanks :)... just heard rumours they try not paying for web.. I ahve a web use one in daily mirror from months ago I am about to chase up and a daily mail one used yesterday..might wait to see if it goes in paper before weekend...wasnt in today.
 
I've had a few in online Nationals, Mail paid £45 a pop, and the others were between £35 - £50, I thought it wasn't too bad considering I sometimes only get that much for magazines :shrug:

thats how it should work.. but seems for sports its the other way around.. you ahve to find the pic then you email them for confirmation... I kinow wiht the mirror when i emailed them (people who usualy give confirmation if in print) they seemed suprised and said they dont deal with web use.. so a couple of emials later i got the right person who said he will put me on the self billing system (already on it for printed) and i left it at that.. to be honest only remembered when i got the other printed today :) just fired an email off to mirror

all my details in the iptc shame they dont let us know when stuff used :(

Exactly - that's like me taking their newspaper from the stand, then they come looking for me for the money once I have read it !!!
 
got a response from the old one.. apologies as well. said its gone under the radar as they ddint have my details.. same detaisl that are in the iptc... asked me to send them so they can pay me.. so thats the old one done... the recent one hasnt made the papers it seems so web use only.. now to contact dailymail :)
 
I've had a few used for web only when working for agency so unsure of exact price but I do know many will not tell you of web usage so you need to keep checking.
 
Cant even get a reply from the dailymail :( I hate resorting to phonecalls and shouldnt have to in the day and age.. email is more appropriate and a way of recording the conversation..
 
Had one come back from the Sun recently £40 on invoice

seemed and odd amount and could not reconcile it against cuttings, turned out to be web use only

Yeagh the Sun have always been pretty good. fast payers and good rates.. Like them :)
 
I have had quite a few of my images printed in magazines, I just charge a nominal fee of £75 per image printed.

Submissions.. you send them picture.. they use then they pay you.. they pay you whatever there rate is.. evearge around £120 for a reasonable size inside page sports picture..unfortunatly the way it works is you ahve to find the usage then contact them to confirm and pay.. even though all your details are in the iptc..

On this occasion the daily mail have used one online and dont seem to want to aknowledge it... the mirror used one (different not related pic) online and are happy to pay..
