National League (Conference) Football

I've heard figures being banded about around the number of images that hit the Nationals picture desks on a Saturday afternoon and it's crazy - surely they can't be happy especially given the standard of some of the images posted.

Funny you should say that..I was speaking to someone who works for one of the bigger agencies and they where told by the sun newspaper to cut down on the amount of images sent in...

I speak to people pitchside who are sending 40+ pics per match....from a 0-0

I was at rovers v derby on wed night.. i got some great shots of the blackburn manager going crazy pitchside.. thats the only pics I sent in..it was 0-0 all i had was bog standard action the same as everyone else.. ok should ahve sent some.. but i was working for local paper and they where my first priority.. point is as Dave says... theres only a couple of papers that use on spec and they are being flooded with... well ... rubish :(

Did the fact that it was raining have any bearing on the number of images you decided to send??

No not really.... at 0-0 I didnt want to risk missing anyhting while on laptop.. as I say my first priority is the local paper who i can send at half or full time.. so I can concentrate on the game ..if there had been goals then i would stick head in laptop and send away knowing I had what i needed for tomorrows back page... If i was doing a game on spec i would just be sendng as and when

the rains not going to make any difference if you have everyhting in place to keep dry : :)

A few more actually in print than online

Thanks for the link. also had a browse of your web site which is certainly full of great images. much for me to get further inspiration from so thanks.
I have the icap ready to go for its first taste of action on Saturday but still hoping that the weatherman has got it wrong. Spent many happy hours in the rain covering field hockey and local rugby union in recent years but because of timelines for publications I did not have the added challenge of editing and ftp during the game.
Thanks again (y)
