Yes
this lovely pile of detritis appeared outside my house on tuesday/wednesday (looks like they are putting a new meter connection into the neighbours house)

now i can see clearly from the roadsign that they are apologetic for causing any inconvenience but its jolly nice of them to block half of the access to my house (ive had to move the signs into the hole as the 'in emergencies contact' sign was half infront of my doorstep and there was a 'pedestrians>' blocking the other half of the doorstep so i had to do a bit of tidying up as they appear in no hurry to come back and remove their inconvenience:shrug:

the think that really annoys is the fact they have clearly used it as a stockpile for various other road signs and barriers they couldnt be arsed to take away.

i recon it;ll be like that for a couple of weeks atleast:bang::annoyed:

That is very poor if it was left like that, but from what i can see all of thoses signs should actually be there by law!

Really there should have been a rectanglurly shaped area barrier'd off, atleast three sided which it looks like theres enough to do that, has some-one removed the side sections? because it looks it to me. We fit the sorry signs to the barrier (i dont work for National Grid though) those signs do have be visible from outside of the barrier'd section, very hard to see where you could fit without out getting in the way to much from that photo, proberly same place it is now with the back legs leaning in the barriered section. There should be pedestrian signs either side of the barrier'd section, this this case to left hand side of your front door with an arrow pointing away, same the other side too (which it looks like there is). The No smoking sign is due to well not being able to smoke in that area.

In short although your photo isnt right, that isnt just a stock pile of crap that some-one couldnt arsed to clear away its all required by the New Street Works Law,(in which i am trained in) looks more like to me some-ones been lazy re-erecting it correctly, or some-one else has got fed up with it restricting the road and has dismantled it to get it out of there way.

hope they aint got confussed and are having gas fitters doing electrical work

im not objecting to it actually being there, its just the fact that they appeared on wednesday, obstructed my front door and havent appeared to be back to finish the job. the side panels have never been there, they';ve just dumped them into the hole and buggered off. i also thought it was rather nice that they have blocked my door but not the door of the person whos actually having the work done!

wasnt sure if it was sparky or gas work tbh, but the sign had national grid on it so presumed it was sparks (Although the no smoking sign confuses me if it is electrical work...!)

edit: just noticed it clearly states gas on the sign!

What? National Grid have Gas and Electrical departments yes, but that sign clearly says National Grid Gas PLC on the top, the regulator would be very unhappy if the Electrical boys where leaving those signs behind, as both departments have to regarded and operate as 2 seperate company's, as gas and the electrical industry have there own seperate regualtors..

On the Gas front they do still own and run the infrastructure and do new service installations etc.

But from the Electrical point of view they ownly have parts of the High voltage network. But most of it now is done by Local District Network Operators, like EDF, Scotish and Southern etc etc.

Report them for it then, like i say they shouldnt have done it. Is it private path or council foot path? if council foot path, it should be done normally within a week, as thats how long most opening notices last for, if they dont backfill within the opening notice then they will get a nice fine. If still open after a week phone the council.

If private road then it could take longer as theres nothing specific they have to follow.
