How's this for nice neighbours?, I went down to harbour yesterday to get a few bird shots etc and got talking to an old chap in a wheelchair who's been into camera's for 50yrs.
I asked him where the camera was and was told " Oh it damaged and i cannot afford another" when i asked how it got damaged he replied " Well you know i'm into macro shots, I had the camera setup on tripod in the garden and had to go back into the house to answer telephone call which took approx 8mins. When re returned to the camera there was water literally running out of the camera body! and this was a hot/dry sunny day. It hadn't rained for 2 days and the garden was dry? but, the next door neighbours kids were out in the garden and guess what they had super shooter water pistols!.
Well he asked the neighbour if they had squirted his camera and instead of saying nope they actually said yes! but he's only 5 years old so its not his fault:eek: when the old bloke told them about his camera being knackered they just said TUFF and suggested he gets another hobby.
Now how bad is that? He's a quiet old chap so wouldn't make a fuss but this has really P****** me off. I have let him have one of my old digital cameras so he can at least carry on snapping but its a sad world we live in nowadays?
Cheerio
Brian:shake:

what a bunch of ****s. i hate people who do not control or decipline their kids. and not even an appology to the old guy. i would have been straight on the phone to the police if that was their reply. that was really kind of you to give him your old camera to make do with

absoloutely pathetic on the part of the neighbours , you cant blame the 5 yo , but the adults are far from adult in their behaviour , good on you for letting have one of your old cameras

Sorry, but yes you can blame the 5 year old, the kid will have known damn well not to do what he was doing. But the parents are also to blame of course.

Maybe he should post a hose pipe through their letter box and turn it on?

You can't hold the 5 year old liable to put it right...but yes you certainly can blame him.

My five year old knows to have respect for other peoples property, and to be careful with a water pistol.
That said, the five year old might not have understood the damage his water pistol could cause, and may have been acting in complete innocence. They do know right from wrong at that age, but bear in mind....they are still only five years old. Doesn't excuse it one bit though.

However, the parent should have intervened, taught the child how and why he was wrong, and offered to put the problem right with the neighbour.
The very fact that the neighbour not only didn't offer, but when confronted said 'Tough', speaks volumes about him. Scum.

Poor guy. These wee thugs need a good clip round the earhole - but only if no ones looking.

I went on a Falconery course a couple of years ago and for a laugh my Mum bought me a plastic hawk with propellor wings to put on the shed roof. It hadn't been up 2 days when our neighbour blasted it to bits with an air rifle.

I'd have definately rung the police on that one, not sure but I'm sure air rifles are still covered by certain firearms laws.

Scum don't do 'nice'. Posessions or memories mean nothing and they hate anyone else having them too.
Ship em all out to a separate, walled and gated dilapidated housing development where they can spoil nothing.

how horrible, can he not do something about it, try to claim some cash off in small claims somehow, im sure if a judge heard this story in court he'd do something?

then again the legal system in this country appears to be their to protect scumbags at the expense of the well meaning law abiding citizen

Hi,
I suggested he go to police etc but like i said he's an old guy and knowing his health problems i think the last thing he needs is courts etc, he seemed to cheer up abit when i gave him the camera and hopefully he'll realise not everyone's a scumbag.
I like the idea of hosepipe through the letterbox LoL
Cheerio

Please don't talk about the cricket I've just finnished putting up a mental block. :dummy:

I think most of the England team had put up a mental block for the last three days. Alas when they were thinking - Block the ball, it didn't happen..............still 1-1 with one to go, it's all to play for, bring back Freddie, drag Peterson of his sick bed, and get Ramprakash in just for the hell of it....
