Narciso Contreras sacked for photoshoping journalism photo

I understand a bit the why wanted journalism picture to be unmodified but it's still a bit of a harsh decision! This was only a "cosmetic" use of photoshop.

What's your thoughts on this?

I think most press agencies, papers and broadcastrrs would do exactly the same. With good reason.

The firing may be harsh but its easy to see the effect that the edit has had on the image. It's gone from being a photograph of a fighter looking at or inspecting some video equipment to being a photograph of a fighter crouching or preparing to jump or dodging bullets in combat. There is added urgency in the photograph now that wasn't there before, and that's probably why he's been fired as the image is no longer truthful.
