Name me some LEGENDARY songs please.

Loads of good suggestions so far - but repeating them isn't going to help you much so I've come up with a few alternatives. These may not be legendry to everyone but I like them...

Metallica - the whole black album + Mama Said

Elton John - Madman Across the Water / Levon / Indian Sunset

Stone Sour - ZZYZX Road / Through Glass

3 Doors Down - Here Without You (acoustic version is best) / Fathers Son

Alice in Chains - Down in a Hole / Nutshell

Alter Bridge - Metalingus / Open Your Eyes / Ties That Bind / Rise Today / Blackbird.

Finger Eleven - Slow Chemical

Creed - Weathered / My Sacrifice

Little Big Town - Bones

Massive Attack - Teardrop

Enjoy! ;)

Time to freshen this up with some modern and eclectic classics :)

Holy **** - Lovely Allen (not as crass as the name would suggest) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-2ceQsSZpJk

Four Tet - She Moves She

Sigur Ros - Svefn-G-Englar

Seriously the last band, Sigur Ros, you need their music. Unfortunately sounds pretty dreadful through youtube, but sat in a dark room with good headphones or hifi, you'll have a musical epiphany, guarantee it ;) In fact, I'm going to dig out my Grados and fall asleep to them tonight :)

You can listen to all this stuff in high-quality for free on Spotify if you don't already have it, brilliant for listening to new music....
