weekly n1kcy's 52 in 2013 - Week 21 added

Thanks everyone, sadly I suspect the frogs will have to try once again, as it never got above freezing here all day yesterday so I suspect the thousands of would-be frogs will now be food for something else instead. This was the second batch of frogspawn that has been laid this year as the first lot also froze.

Week 9 - Juxtaposition

I can't decide this week, first up 'Flowing & Frozen'

or this one, which I've deliberatly held quite blue as it was damn cold out by the stream today.

Hi, Juxtaposition, bang on theme and well spotted. Like the composition and you've really captured the movement in the water. Tad blue maybe?

Cheers.

not sure which one i prefer i like the movement in the water in the first one but the ice in the second one both good in there own way then, hows that for sitting on the fence

Yeah, it is probably a bit blue, it was intentional to emphasis the coldness...

Sounds like you're going to get some splinters in your bum

Week 10 - Letter

8567772009_d8154168f6_b.jpg

Juxtaposition - easliy the first of your two for me..... the zig-zag diagonal path of the water down through the frame, great movement captured, and the frozen water on the sides making it fit theme perfectly.

Letter - works really well, starts off looking very OOF, but then you get to the R, and BANG, perfectly sharp and in focus. Border works really well here too, echoing the silver border around the R on the badge.

Well shot and great focus. Perfect isolation of the R and blurring of the other letters. Good stuff

wow, thanks everyone :)

OOOoooo, Letter, nice.

Great colours and the DOF is bang on. It's sometime easy to have too shallow a DOF and here you've retailed detail in the far letters. I wondered about cropping out the lower part, but I'm glad it's there because it adds depth.

Crit, there is none!

Cheers.

agree with everyone else great DoF and nice colour

I have a bit of catching up to do so here is:

Week 11 - Electric

I was very careful to ensure the plug socket remained switched off!

You want to see the mess behind my TV. Too may toys and not enough plugs !!!

Tacky and then your up to date..

I have Direction to do too :)

Looks like a scene from an old "public information" film!

Nice range of tones there Nicky. looks great in B&W.

nice take on electric  you should have turned it on and got the after shot

love the idea and the processing for electric - would have thought another plug or two rather than the charger wires could have worked slightly better?

But do like the overloaded with weight so its drooping over works well.

Thanks for all the comments :)

Here's Direction:

Week 13: Tacky

Nice shot for direction Nicky - first thought was for a lower POV - but that would have meant the wave going into the rock - so think it's right as it is... Good colours and texture on the edge of the sand

Your usual excellent standard of composition on the papers for tacky, and nice flat, square on POV, love the strip of wood floor on the top and left... Agree The Star is a fairly Tacky paper, but I though the Mail was fairly posh?? Again, nice bright colours and good contrast between the blacks, whites and the red's.

Week 14 - Tacky

Excellent idea for the theme, I like the composition and leaving a bit of table showing compliments the picture as a whole.

To be honest I don't read newspapers apart from the occasional local one. Someone dropped them off as we reuse old newspapers and they apologies for bringing such tacky papers - hence the idea for the theme :)

Thanks, I liked the way the sunlight was lighting up the wood.

Hi ya

Love your Direction shot...good texture in the sand & a bit of motion in the water , the eye gets lead nicely through to the waves....only niggle is the rock seems a tad soft ? other than that it's a big

Tacky....yup , gotta agree on the star , nicely positioned & sharp

Electric...looks like my work station

ok, cope out alert.....
weeks 14-17!

This is our poor VALUE for money, GREEDY for oil, RUSTIC rayburn taken at an unusual ANGLE.... sorry.

But I feel better now I don't have 4 weeks themes hanging over my head. I'll try and do proper pictures at some point during the year.
