MyFitnessPal

Yeh I've used it, it's very good, especially the barcode scanner.

However I did get bored in the end of keeping track.

Probably 2 or 3 months, it can be difficult to work out the calories for items that have been made in a cafe or something you made at home from scratch.

Yes I used it - initially for about 8 months (June 2011 - Feb 2012) and lost a significant amount of weight by moving more and eating less. MyFitnessPal was instrumental in helping me do that by tracking calories and exercise (I used a HRM to log actuals).

I did weigh my food at home, although I built "meals" to make the logging easier, and I over estimated food I couldn't scan, or find the actual amounts for.

I can't rate it highly enough. For a bunch of reasons none of which are really justifiable I stopped using it and put some of the weight back on - it was the discipline I needed. I'm now back using daily - and if I had to use it every day to lose and then maintain my healthy weight I would...

...and it's completely free !

Great success story

I have been using it for about a year on my iphone as an app. I used it solely for the first six months and lost about 7kg. I then used it in conjunction with the 5:2 diet and lost another 15kg.

It was probably the first thing that made me appreciate how many calories there was in food, particularly things that I'd figured were probably low calorie but turned out to be high. It also made me appreciate portion size.
