I may end up testing the swear filter tonight, so I apologise in advance if the forums slow down :D

What the hell is it with the british public? Why are they taken in by all this ****?
It's not even a fresh format anymore. They use the same camera angles, the same dramatic music, even the same lines.

Take a swig of light beer everytime you hear one of the following phrases, and I guarantee you'll be mullered by the end of the night.

* "It's a dream come true"
* "The votes are the closest ever"
* "There's just xx% in it"
* "Most votes ever already tonight"
* "You're an inspiration"
* "I can see you in the final"
* "You really deserve to win"
* "Im so proud of you, you've come really far"

Double swig for a crying judge (That'll get a few 1000 more people voting).

Like Dara O'Brien I think it was, that said "Please give me a chance Simon, it's my lifelong dream!!........LIFELONG dream? You're 15, you'll have others!"

Then we have the same camera angles, the same excerpts

Get one contestant, put them on stage in full hair and makeup.
Turn on wind machine.
Camera on Jib, swoop in from the side...fast.
When camera reaches contestant, slow right down, make sure the wind effects are seen, and contestant is looking right into the camera.
Camera pans past contestant slowly as his eyes follow and he turns head.
Don't forget the dramatic music.

Rinse and repeat.

Also we have the 'decisions'

Start a power ballad on low volume, while playing clips of the contestant walking through their home town, looking forlorn.
Judge "My............decision............is........."
Pause for effect
Pause a bit more
Pause a bit more, the cash is rolling in
Judge "You're going through"
Quickly fade UP the power ballad (as its conveniently getting to the chorus).
Cue contestant jumping up and down, and mouthing "thankyou so so so so much"
Add tears and fake emotion for more effect.

Please, I want to be sick.

Are the british public so thick that theyre taken in by it all?

I want to slap my wife with gloves at the moment. She isn't suckered enough to vote (She knows I'd bury her under the patio..lol), but she's takin in by Cheryl Cole crying, by the tearful perfomances of the acts.

"awwww how sweeeet, she's crying look!"

Does everyone not realise how manufactured this crap is? Every step of the show. While the reactions and some of the emotion may be real, it's only as a result of a decision to manufacture said reaction and emotion.

If Cheryl Cole is caught with tears in her eyes, it's because the show's producers have decided to make it exceptionally soppy to make her cry.

It's all one big bloody con and it makes me want to go on a wild and violent rampage.

Marcel,

Great post, world class, you are going to take the world by storm....

Couldn't agree more, it's completely staged. It also has to be a fix as a contest. How can you have a music contest where 3 of the judges are employed and paid by the other judge and where that other judge has acts in the contest. How can any entrant be sure they get the right songs for their ability, the right slow on the show etc. All of these can be manipulated to suit some acts over others depending on who the other judge / producer / owner of the TV company producing the show etc want to win in order to make the most votes and money. Are the judges, sorry employees, comments and votes unbiased ? The show has also become a vehicle to promote the acts of guess who ? Hmmmm Boyzone and Westlife, also, who are they managed by...ohh look one of the judges.

My rant over before i really go on lol

its only T.V, ive for the first time sat down and whatched that XXXX and im confused.com.

who on this earth do the judges what to win, and is it me or are the judges voting for the other teams also????

Well you can take Marcel to the TV but you can't make him feel entertained :lol:

Still got him to write a novel for us :D:D:D:D

I quite enjoyed it :) X factor that is, your novel is not bad either

Same here mate, same here.

Simon - Your the worse contestent ever, and that was a shocking performace... /crowd start to boo/

Gay David - Simon your wrong, I BELIEVE in my self /starts to cry/ I'll go the full way /crowd starts to cheer/ I won't disapoint the fans /continues to sob, croud continue to cheer/

What a load of pish..........

Why does everybody knock the X-Factor ? The acts are such good role models............

anybody got a "pistol to the head pull trigger" smiley ??????

and Yes, MrsG watches it :bang: , but the patio rule has been explained :bat::rules:

havent watched any yet and certainly don't intend to either.

luckily my wife doe'snt like it either

It is painful Marcel but 20 minutes of Dad's army on BBC2 addresses the balance.

X-factor - when there's been rugby sky +ed..........load of crap to me, just got home from rugby and now about to watch the Quins game. Great day, stood in rain, got muddy, watched Vigo win 38-0, few beers after, just had our curry and now going to watch more rugby. Heaven

X-factor, what's X-factor :D

I'm given to understand a vast number of votes come from bored shift workers with phone access at work - most likely docklands security guards who haven't a tog with a tripod in sight to hassle. ;)

Marcel, loved the post but lighten up and watch the early audition shows cos they're really quite entertaining, plus it will give you an idea of the audience fodder drawn to the show. After they finish the auditions switch off cos the winner will be who SC wants regardless. This year I predicted JLS to win a while back. Did they "win" yet? :D

What is this x factor of which you all speak  I find a good book solves all the tv problems

Do you like rugby then?

Oh don't get me wrong, I watch the first few shows of the series, for a laugh at the delusionals who think theyre brilliant. The complete nutters. That's good entertainment.

It's after that, that the show becomes worthless :p

Sod, it Girls Aloud is on now :D I'm off to drool over Nicola the ginger one.
I've done my 365 for today and I'm quite tired too, so I think it's an early night tonight :)

Well we watch it, and 2 out of the 3 contestants are pretty good..... But God, WTF is Eee-og doing on there - the pretty little boy has no body in his voice and it's as flat as a pancake......

.

You must be tired and a bit confused if you're drooling over her! :gag:

They'd be a much better proposition without Nicola IMHO.

it's gone very quiet im here, think everyone has gone to watch it

and the winner is .............

Simon Cowell

Just pleased cheesy "yogan" is out:puke:

Never watched it but..re the similar camera angles, could that be because they need to show and treat each contestant the same? so as not to seem to be favouring one over another?

i dont like Xfactor, i think marcel has hit every nail on the head with his first show, its fixed, and i mearly a publicity machine for some 'artists' infact scratch artists 'singers' is more like it. im not doubting they;re talented singers but well rounded acts they are not.

as far as im concerned the only bit worth watching is the 'hopefuls' in the first few shows who are clearly mental patients or paid actors

Not year after year after year ;)

They don't even update the format for a new series.

It's awful, manufactured crap for the unintelligent. End of.

dribbling retard is the best way to describe the winners current performance

and that was prior to her singing, someone elses regurgitated crap to boot

I agree with every word Marcel
I stopped watching it several series ago and it just as I (unfortunately) remember it
So yep same crap same format
BTW have a few stars :D on me

Does anyone know the total amount generated in this years competition via phone calls? there were 8,000,000 calls tonight alone, is that 50P per call?

Whoever thought of this format for making money by getting the public to call premium numbers is a genius.

Edit it was 16,000,500 calls in total.
