You only get the UK warranty if you can prove to Sigma you have paid the VAT, which is unlikely if it's a grey import.

I sold my 24-70mm and miss it now :( although i'm hoping to take a serious look at the new HSM version if and when it becomes available.

There are so many options, I shall at some point go for one of them.
Nikkor 35-70, 28-70 or 24-70
Tammy 28-75
Siggy 24-70

Have there been any decent A vs B reviews? The 3rd party offerings can be great value, but the varying quality is a worry.

the HSM version is meant ot be slightly smaller - but they have messed with the optics so will wait for a while to see what reviews are like on the lens.

Do you guys think this could be a nice compliment to a cannon 10-22?
I was thinking about getting the 10-22, and the getting the cannon 17-55 2.8, but the sigma 24-70 is alot cheaper!

I take it your talking a about the new sigma 24-70mm HSM, if so what do you mean they have messed with the optics, and where did you get the info from

Hi T.G. maybe messed is the wrong word but tinkered would be more appropriate. jsut from a google i got this.

Photokina 2008: Sigma has today announced a new HSM version of its popular 24-70mm F2.8 EX DG lens. This large aperture standard zoom is considerably more compact than its predecessor, thanks to a brand new optical design which features 14 elements in 12 groups, including three aspherical, one ELD and two SLD elements. The HSM focusing motor promises fast and silent focusing coupled with full-time manual focus, and the minimum focus distance is 38cm allowing a maximum magnification of 1:5.3. The lens will be available in Sigma, Canon, Nikon, Pentax and Sony mounts.

hope that helps

Simply, yes!
It would be great as it gives you more reach then the 55mm end of the Canon and its quality is pretty tasty too for the price! :)

Just got a Sigma 24-70 f2.8 with a Hoya 82 Circular Polarizer on ebay for £170, think that was a good deal. LOVE IT.:)
Phil;)

Well that one isn't even out here yet

Have a look at those two photos

Curious. Mine looks like the second one, but it's a sony fit. I have seen sigma lenses where there are slight cosmetic differences for different fits. I though the Mark I had HSM, but in Nikon fit only.
