Heres a line up showing the size compared to usual suspects like sigma 10-20 and canon 70-200 F4L IS

i want one of those soooo bad... Looks lushious :D

I loved mine, a proper monster that you could whack people out of the way with. :D

I like mine too, but i wish i could go wider.

But mine is currently back at sigma, getting fixed due to the rear barrel cracking, hopefully get it back some time before christmas :)

Ideally I suppose you need a 12-24 to go with it! :D I would imagine the 24-70 comes into it's own on full frame, plenty wide enough then.

Is that finish as good to touch and caress as it looks ?

Tell me about it...

Just spent the money i had saved up for the tokina 12-24/canon 10-22 wide on a new denon hi fi... Ooops.

well i just happen to have a 10-20 ;), but then i dont know if i want to get rid of it...

I'll be getting a 10-20 to make up for the wider ranges I'm missing since selling my 17-70. Just a 70-200 2.8 to get then and I'll be happy :)

I have a 10-20 and a 24-70.... In fact, the 24-70 rarely leaves my 40D unless I need to go very wide or very long. I've been up in London today with camera, hopefully I'll get something decent from it (I'm crap at landscape, I really am..... :shake: )

Loved? You mean it is no more??

Flogged it with my 400D as I needed a little more length so went for a 24-105. Missing the f/2.8 though.

I really do with they made a 17-70 f/2.8, i'd have upgraded to the 24-70 a while ago if it were just that little bit wider!

2nd hand?

Of course and yes it is FF compatible.

I actually got it for the Canon 50E but will be getting used on the 400D as well.

Only thing is the size and weight of this unbalances the 400D. I've still got the EFS 17-85mm for that which fits like snugly.

Also did I mention how loud the AF is ? Makes a grinding noise as well.

There is new version out though with HSM which should be quieter and faster.

I do agree with the problem with balancing when on the 400d.

That's why santa clause is bringing my a BG-E3 for christmas :)

Hmm yes I was wondering if the OP has problems with a dirty sensor - just a though looking at the picture :-)

I have the 17-70 and have been contemplating the same switch to the 24-70. Would you mind sharing your experiences, was it worth it?

im considering selling my siggy 10-20mm for a nikon 12-24mm , would that be a good move???

Love mine, simple as.

Great quality for the price. I picked mine up for about £227 from Onestop-digital when the pound was really strong :D

is it the HSM version that they jsut released?

I had same problem. Mine's as good as new now though :D

exactly what I'm thinking - ditch the 24..105 F4L, get the siggie and a canon 70-200mm. On that lens comparison thingie CanonBob posted the sigma does look quite a lot inferior to the Canon of the same length, but for me I hardly ever use this range anyway & I'd be gaining 1 stop on it.

Oooo, is it? I didn't know that. Has anyone used a Siggy 24-70 on a Canon 5D? How does it hold up?

Holds up perfectly. I have a battery pack on my 5d and the whole thing balances really well and looks the business.

As to the op photo I agree with Gary - get that camera covered. I reckon I have had the 5d for about three years. I would say I have only ever taken the lens off about half a dozen times and I only ever do it indoors and never after the house has just been cleaned (less dust in the air).

So far I have never had to clean the sensor although there is one bit if dust in there so maybe soon.

Welcome to the wonderful world of of Sigma 24-70

I have one of these bad boys. I bought mine last year and was the best £279 I ever spent.

I use it mainly for gigs and weddings. It also comes in super handy for general every day running about.

I now have a 3 sigma lenses and hoping to buy another.
