Hi All...

I've started to create a website... It's not finished yet. I still have a biography page to add and a bunch of albums to put in there.

But this will give you a general feel for the website!

Looks quite good Dan, simple and uncluttered at the moment. On your 'Ornamental' photography page you appear to have your Simpleviewer Admin login at the bottom right hand corner, you might want to get rid of that if you can.
 
Well I like the general look of it with the soft greys and suchlike... the wording is too faint though and too small, on my large resolution monitor they're just too small and faint to read easily.

I don't think the lead in pages are necessarily, I find them quite frustrating when surfing and really they have no use what so ever...just extra doors to go through, when you could have been their first click.

That'll do from me.

As a work in progress it's looking nice. As Colin says, simple and uncluttered. The colour theme that you've chosen works well in that it's not imposing so won't detract from the photography. Looking forward to seeing the finished result!
 
Thanks all. It's something I put together last night.
And the SimpleViewer is a godsend for creating photo albums etc.

I'll take all comments on board and give it some more refurbishing tonight :)

Have a look at any normal website and you should see how your navigation isn't working. Take this one for example. What good would a forum be if every thread lost the navigation to other areas of the site? If on every thread you always had to go all the way home just to navigate to a different page. Think about a proper navigation system. All your content should be no more than 2 clicks away in theory. Thats what you should aim for. Why not just call it Dan Taylor Photography? Why the odd spelling of amnesia with the coldplay quote. Also, don't use tables for layout. Learn and use CSS.

The coldplay quote is from a long time ago when "Amnesia" used to be the name of my "personal website" it was just about me. lol.

Amnesia is a form of blacking out. That's what causes the memory loss. You black out from excessive amounts of blood in the brain. So rush of blood to head fitted in quite nicely.

The reason I didn't want to call it "Dan Taylor Photography" is because I'm not a photographer (yet). I think I'm still learning and it's just a place for me to put up my work until I get better and can actually justify advertising my site as my photography website. Maybe i thought it would be an insult to all you professionals out there :-)

I was going to put my email address on the front page so really, there was only ever going to be 2 pages. My biography page, and my photography gallery so I didn't see the need to create a navigation system.

However - seeing as the current system isn't proving popular, I think i'll address the situation tonight and create some sort of navigation shortly :)

There's more than 2 pages. Splash (eugh) page, then you click on photos, then you click on the gallery you want to view. Thats 3. What if you have a gallery for cars, and landscapes and macro? What if someone wants to view your biography from a gallery, or if they suddenly want to contact you?
 
Yes, you have made a good point. I think if I can do something like www.dan-taylor.co.uk/enter/photography/photography.html with a menu navigation under the header or down the side or something it would not only look better but probably function better too.

If it is to be called Amneisa, put that in the title too as it currently says "www.dan-taylor.co.uk | under construction".
 
I can't do any editing etc until tonight.

I'll have a think about what to call it etc.

Hi all...

I've changed the navigation menu... it's just a "layout" colour schemes etc are still to be implemented and i'm going to get rid of the whole "Amnesia" thing too...

Does it work better for you now do you think?
