so Im going to try my hand at black and white devloping very soon
stupid question number 1
whats the best method to unload devloped film from the patterson spool? when using a test roll to dry practise i cant pull it out, and if i open the spool up, the film goes "fliwp" and is wound around the center :/
oh and i overexposed my first film to dev by alot due to duffy battery light meter :/, (3-4 stops) its illford fp125, should i cut short the dev time?

I just twist it open and then pull the film off the centre column of the spool. I don't think you can get it out any other way as the ball bearings in the spool make it a one way thing to get the film on and not off. Perhaps if you hold the spool dead level when you undo it the film wont fall onto the centre column? Not sure it matters that much anyway tbh, if you're worried about the film touching itself (LOL) then I guess you could pour some water on it after you've unrolled it before you hang it?
