My RX100 was stolen in Barcelona absolutely gutted and do not know whether to replace or use phone?

I've just compared a good compact to a current phone camera relevant to the OP. The compact wins for everything, size, IQ, price, usability etc etc.

It's not about paper specs either, no one said that. Have a look at my RX100 mk1 pics further back in the thread. It's about real world shooting and how it can perform (relative to your first post).

And the OP wants something more than a camera phone.

Ahem yes they did, look at what I quoted :)

And yes the current crop of phones can perform really really well as well. If one is in the market for one anyway then cost wise it will actuall work out much cheaper.

Sure it's not for everyone but too me, I just don't bother with a compact as it is still something extra to carry and thus may as well either not and use one of those three excellent phones or carry a larger interchange system. But hey it's just my opinion no need to agree with it, doesn't make it wrong though ;)

I can't see where I mentioned paper specs in that quote (don't get me started on stupidly high MP in camera phones!), or denied that the best camera is the one you have on you, only that the best compacts are better than current gen phone cameras? You brought in a lot of stuff that was a bit off topic in your initial post.

No ones denied that you can't take *good* photos with lesser kit?

And no camera phone works out cheaper. If you don't pay the huge outlay at the start, but go on a contract like most, you actually pay considerably more (four figures for the latest handset contracts), how is that working out cheaper when you can buy an RX100 mk1 for £240 new? Don't forget we're talking a camera replacement for an RX100 mk2, the OP might not be in the market for a new phone, as an excuse of offsetting the huge cost of the telephone :)

Confusingly I think it comes in two different sensor lens module. In comparisons I prefer the Samsung one.

The rx100 mk3 has a flip screen andisplay you can use the app on a smart phone to take pics and back up the pics you have taken. It can be a bit temperamental like the nikon one for the d750 but when it's works it's great
