What with failing CF card and being burgled on holiday, another theft has added insult to injury.

I ordered a Manfrotto MN 393 gimbal head before I went away, and expected it to be waiting for me at the PO when I got home.

It wasn't, so I phoned the supplier for the RMSD tracking number, and ran it through the RM site. Horror of horrors - I was informed that the package had been delivered and signed for.

Back to local PO, and a check of the signature card showed that it had been signed for by a neighbour. What a relief I thought. I went to the neighbour expecting it to be given to me, but no.... neighbour said he had left it in his porch, and forgotten about it. Guess what??? It wasn't there:bang: :bang:

I've no idea who took it, my neighbour is a good friend, and would have no use for it. We live in a quiet close, on a private road, and don't get many passers by.

It's a mystery. No point on claiming on my house insurance because of the excess, so I'll just have to stump up for another. The Deitmar Nill dream will have to remain that, just a dream.:shake:

OOOOOCH! :(

Thats the 3. Lets hope things get back on an even keel for you.

(still you can always claim for the new head on the contents insurance .. having already been burgled)

It does come in three's so fingers crossed its all over.

 Join the club,, Doug!

At least you've had your 3....Im still waiting with baited breath for my 3rd!! :D

It couldve been anyone in reality couldnt it.

Milkman, postman, another delivery driver, anybody...specially if they could see it had already been signed for. :(

Sorry to hear that Doug :( I hope that's your run of bad luck over with now and your garden is blessed with LTT's forever more :)

Bloody Hell Doug! :(

Why sign for a neighbour's stuff if you're not going to take responsibility for it? You'd have been better off if he'd kept his nose out of it. I'd be decidedly vexed to say the least.

I wonder if you can claim against RM for leaving it with a neighbour?
I know you say he's a good friend etc, but what if he wasn't. What if he was a neighbour who was likely to steal it? (I'm talking hypothetically rather than a possibility).

Where would you stand with RM then? The outcome would be the same, so maybe they have a procedure for something like this?

Personally, if I was the neighbour, I would feel absolutely gutted and offer to pay for another, or at the very least towards the cost of a replacement.

I aggree with Bod on this, I'd chase up the RM, unless you specifically left instructions with them to leave with neighbour if not in, then in my eyes its there fault.

What if you had just moved into the street, how can you possibly trust your neighbour before getting to know them??

:agree:

if they are a friend at all they would pay for i new one. I know i would.

I've just ordered a replacement at full price:bang: The stolen one was the shops ex demo model. I've started an enquiry with Royal Mail, and my neighbour has agreed to cough up 50% 0f the cost of the stolen one... better than nothing. I'll stay in tomorrow morning and sign for it myself.:suspect:

Royal mail must deliver Special delivery items to the address on them and no where else, you should get a full refund for purchase price and postage.

Doug - that sucks. Sorry mate.

I'm sure your neighbour feels fairly wretched, but leavig it in his porch was not the cleverest thing in the world. When I got my copy of CS2 it was posted to me. RM claimed to have left it at a neighbour at number 30. There is no number 30!!!! 2 days later a lady i've never met brought the package round to me having tracked me down by asking all along the street until she found someone i knew!!

The postie knows me well, and I often ask him to leave a parcel with a neighbour if I know I'm not going to be in to sign for it. He wouldn't therefore, be doing anything unusual, so to be fair, I can't really complain. If I did, he'd be in deep doodoo!!, and I wouldn't want that to happen.

Sorry to hear your run of bad luck. Hopefully it'll call a day after a 3 strikes.

Mine got one more strike to go...

You haven't been rubbing my lucky rabbits foot have you?

This sounds like my life tbh.

At least your neighbour did the decent thing and is paying for half so you're not toooooooo much out of pocket!

Lets hope the run of bad luck stops here!
