My PS3 is pickled (solved)

Damn PS3 60GB classic not the slimline one... majorly dissapointed, its been working fine since I got it over a year ago, now it won't start up, just comes up with a red screen and won't read discs

any ideas,

Update....

what a pain in the arse.... it's now stuck in a boot loop, will have to do a full restore :shake:

Where did you buy it from? I'd have said something of that age ie just over a year wasn't of satisfactory quality if it has died this soon.

You can try one of those dvd cleaner discs on the off chance some crud has just stuck on the lens. It's a long shot...

There are 2 well known deaths of a ps3.....a diode pops in the bluray drive so it won't read discs. Or it overheats and the solder on the processor comes away so it doesn't even boot.

it lives again, but minus my savegames, had to do a full format, even though its working I'm still not happy

My 60gig PS3 packed up a few months ago. I was gutted because I was just about to watch Dirty Harry and the Playstation broke down and now I can't get the disc out.

I've since bought a new slim PS3.
