Basically, my Cousin wants me to do a family portrait for him. He says if I get it right then his mate wants one done. Then so does his mates mate. Then his business needs a picture for there site and another company need some good pictures to. I am going to get paid for all of this and this could be the start of something big.

I am really looking forward to next year (as wierd as it sounds) I maybe in a stable photography job and I will have a season long press pass for Oulton Park shhoting for my local paper :woot:

I cant wiat :D

Good on you Matt. Good luck

The more I read what you have to say, the more I don't like you.

Git!

Just kidding! Hope all goes well for you, good luck :)

Good for you Matt! Hope its the start of many opportunities for you:)

Nice one dude. You'll be able to get a nice wee portfolio going with that lot to bring in more work.

Yeah, hopefuly!!

Thank you very much!

Maybe able to me 100-400 sooner than first planned

Good luck, sounds like you will do well and are taking the right route for a career behind the lens

Well Matt, good on you, plan, plan, plan - not sure at what age you need to register as self employed but it would be worthwhile researching it, do it right first time matey !

Good luck !

you are lucky you are starting off with paid work. Make sure you keep your portfolio upto date!

Sounds interesting. You've now got to think about lighting - can't always rely on natural light and the built in flash is a bit pathetic.

Nice bode of confidence there :p

If I were you matt, I'd get bang on the portraiture now. Just find out as much you can and practise, practise, practise.

Lighting is the big thing, since it will need to be even lighting, meaning probably 2 sources of lighting or at least a reflector.

Another thing to remember is that the client will be happy with the photos as long as they are technically sound and well lit and well composed. You don't need to worry about doing anything dynamic just yet. Just pray that the photos you're taking aren't for someone who's into photography, because photographers are the worst critics :p

And most importantly, good luck and congratulations :)

Nice one Buddy

Forgot to say I have got the college studios and all there lighting equipment to play with! Also I have asked my tutor to stay behind with me so he can help with the lighting.

Well Matt, I've always said to you that you should keep your fired up enthusiasm fired up and if you did then you would get there... and it certainly sounds like you are getting there.

Just watch out that turning it into a job doesnt dull your love of the subject though...

Right thats it, I'm definitely going to post that picture of you on here now so that everyone can see that the expression 'ugly b*ggers for luck' is correct.

Seriously though, good luck although I think that technically you're good enough and you have the right attitude.
Well done dude.

Andy
