My photo was on TV!!!!!!

Excellent, seems to have worked a treat for you :)

Yeh , i'm happy. I did alot of driving that night and got soaked for it and nearly killed lol

What i really liked though was the added lightning strike noise to my photo hehe

I thought you meant you'd (finally) been on Crimewatch :naughty:

Crackin' pic, well deserved recognition imho :)

Holy ****, they're fantastic mate.

You guys down south been having stormy weather then ? Nowt like that up here.

There were some great stills of the storm on the BBC Kent website you pointed to as well Neil. A spectacular storm by all accounts. Obviously your shots were the best Neil.:clap:

Ray

Great shot.

I can never get a picture of lighting. I always miss it. Can yall tell me a good way to photograph lighting?

f8 - F11 , F11 gave the best ones.... 20-40sec exposure , if i get a strong bolt i count 5-10secs more exposure then let the shutter close. ( Trial and error )

Focus set to infinity

Bulb Mode , manual 100 iso

Tripod used :)

Btw you will have alot of bad shots but DON'T give up , keep trying :thumbs:

Cool Thanks.

I dont think my Sony alpha 200 Has a bulb setting.

Hmmm try this MPhoto's

Put it in manual mode , when you dial up to have a longer exposure keep going, keep turning that dial!. It will finally go into a mode called BULB

Cracking shot Neil, well done. I saw the same bolt of lightning from my bedroom but didnt get the camera out in time!!!!!!
:clap::clap::clap:

Allan

wow I dont know how many times I have messed with the manual setting and never noticed the bulb setting thank you so much.

You are most welcome , good luck with the lightning shots!

Hold the trigger button down or get a remote release cable , the longer you hold it down the longer the exposure :)

:woot::woot:

Well done Neil. Just showed Dan and he said he saw that picture earlier on tv :thumbs::thumbs: Fantastic photos :clap:

I sat on my windowsill sticking my head out the window mesmerised by it for about an hour before the rain hit. Then we just sat with all the lights out watching for an hour. Ansolutely amazing storm last night (apart from losing my internet connection while uploading photos :lol: )

Did think a couple of times to get the camera out but had no idea what settings to use and didn't want to leave windowsill to find out :lol::lol:

Counted at the most 8 seconds between lightening and thunder and for about 20 minutes, there was 1-2 seconds between so right over us. Windows rattled

Superb :thumbs:

I want another one :D

Thankyou very much Kelack!

For the best lightning i feel or atleast more chance to take a shot of it , stay away from the rain. Keep to the edge of the storm atleast , makes for a damn good show :)

That is indeed a very nice picture. Are you getting paid for it? If the BBC have syndicated it to Sky then THEY will have charged Sky for it - probably in the hundreds, especially as it is such a rare pic. I hope you made sure they understood it was YOUR copyright - otherwise you will see it used all over the place earning other people good money.

I would get in touch with the BBC immediately to negotiate your fee, plus the syndicated fees you are due. Otherwise, have you any more hundred pound notes you could bung my my way please? You really deserve to get what is due to you - don't let the bu**ers get away with it in your euphoria.

It is great for you to have got your picture recognised so widely, but why let the BBC earn big money off your work and you get nothing?

Excellent :)
