Brilliant well done!! I'm going to have to have a go at shooting lightning....

I see there is a 20 sec difference in exposure times between the 2 photos but little difference in exposure appearance of the finished articles. Was this down to PP or does it not make to much difference what exposure time you choose?

If you look closer you can see the lightning is brighter and also more cloud detail with a longer exposure.. But alot of it is still trial and error!

Different exposures work better for different lightning + distances , distant lightning needs a very long exposure aswell.

Hopefully * South east today * 6.30pm onwards. If not you might be able to watch it online later :)

Submitted to south east today with a short story of the storm chase , they picked the one they liked :)

They also mentioned the fact they had many lightning photo's from other people sent to them so i was well chuffed to get mine on tv :love:
 
Now does anybody know how to save the asx file to hard drive so i can show the family before its gone for ever from the website? :(

You could take a screen shot of the page and save it as a jpeg, that would work.

I was up watching the storm in the distance last night!! WISHING it would come this way!!

I remember taking a pic from the beach wall at Shellness on the isle of sheppy many years ago.. iv never come across another storm since!! well, not one i could capture anyway!!..

There are some tools out there that allow you to save streamed video to your desktop....am just gonna have ahunt for it again....will post again when I have found it

Sent them the full storm chase story with photo's and hoped they thought mine were good enough to put on the tv :)
