People who try to get on to a train / tube etc. before people have gotten off. It slows everything down and is just damn annoying!

People who fly the flag upside down. :bang:
Coming from someone who stated patriotism as a pet hate, your first 2 pet hates above don't surprise me, but your 3rd doesThat reminds me. Two of my pet hates are the flag and anthem of the USA. And yes, seeing the Union Flag upside down is really jarring.

Nothing to do with patriotism. Just looks totally wrong!
OutLore said:Ah, so it wasn't a pet hate because it's disrespectful (unless you're signalling distress) but just because it looks funny![]()

Because there's a lot of people who don't give a hoot about the flag, or what it stands for, so recognise the design, but wouldn't actually know it can be upside down.
I mean - I've seen people who have a Union Flag design doormat - not much more disrespectful than that!
4) and finally, rather aptly, you've probably guessed i work in IT. what, really, really, really, really p**ses me off is people who report computer problems when you are at the work chistmas party/meal/socal function. i've even had somebody i work with try and report a problem with their laptop when i've been out having a meal with my family. i couldn't believe it.

You don't make it clear if the people reporting the problems were also at the party/meal/social function or with you at a meal with your family. If they were not, are they supposed to be psychic?![]()
3) abuse of the internal email system: CCing to absolve responsibility, sending chain letters, sending stupid pointless dictats which nobody actually reads less assimilates, sending to global groups when really what they are sending only applies to one or two people. i've actually ended up blocking several people from my own workplace because of the copious amounts of rubbish they send out daily. these messages go to senior management too, nobody ever seems to do anything about it.
It's just a flag. Nothing to lose sleep over.
I don't have all that many, but one or two things do grind my gears and they all occur in the work environment.
1) people who ring you up and are eating. you can hardly hear what they are saying through the slurping and crunching. surely, whatever they need to say to me can wait another 30 seconds until they've swallowed it?
2) people who incessantly keeping ringing your phone. for example, they will keep on the line until it goes to vm, hang up and ring again, and keep doing it over and over -sometimes for several minutes. when you are having a conversation with somebody, a meeting or trying to do something where you need to focus and concentrate it's very annoying and unfortunately, on our system if you stick the phone on dnd you can't leave a message. if they leave a message, i'd call them right back when i'm finished what i'm doing.

I've had that too. I'm a member of a group that rents a room in my workplace for meetings in the evening and I've lost count of the number of times we've been interupted by people expecting me to sort out some problem. The worst offender being a janitor, who despite being repeatedly told I finish at five, brings a constant stream of people to the room demanding that I sort out their IT problems - despite the fact I don't work in IT! When he's told there is nothing I can do, I get the response of "So you're not going to bother to help?"
Grrrrr
They need to get a life then.To you - yes. To others - no.![]()
Or you need to realise that not everyone is like you, thankfully. They need to get a life then.![]()

If they work at it, they might just be able to be just as good.Or you need to realise that not everyone is like you, thankfully.![]()
People that don't pull their weight on the tea runs.
People who insist on saying the phrase back in the day what day exactly are you talking about?
A topical one for me. I don't really mind scraping the ice off the car windows these frosty mornings, but what really does drive me nuts is.......
The loud and irritating bleep should I dare to open the car door whilst the engine is running.
I'm a grown up now, I've been driving for more than 30 years and so far, I've managed to avoid engine running & door open difficulties!
Is it just me, I know I'm a grumpy old man, but I can do without some H&S expert in Brussels deciding that I need such loud and superfluous.
I feel better now!

Pet shops that call themselves pet shops but don't sell pets only pet food.
People (in the US) who refuse to turn right on red lights :bonk: :bang:
Or people who insist on stopping when they have a right turn green arrow![]()

Isn't that a state-by-state thing still?
I always love the "right on red" thing when I've been there, but I can fully understand how peeving it must be if folks don't actually do it![]()
