Is it possible for me to upload images to my pc via my mobile phone via an app. I am going to be using HTC Hero Android.
 
Do you have a static IP address for your PC?
 
Sure is... but there are much easier ways of doing that.

Try looking at something along the lines of drop box (iphone supported only) https://www.dropbox.com/iphoneapp

Sure there are plenty of other ways about form an andriod device.
 
I have found this App Linky and want to know how it communicates with my PC.

Do I need special software to set up my PC to accept a file vit the APP?

If I am doing a mobile shoot and tether my camera to the lappy, can I then, using the phone, upload to my PC via this program.
 
Adding IIS now...............what about security ? Is there anything else I should do.

providing theres an FTP app for your phone then just pop IIS on your windows machine and set up FTP server. allow traffic through your firewall/router.

Yup, wanted to make sure before adding extra confusion, but you've covered it anyway.

FWIW I would look at using some sort of cloud based set up rather than sending the files back to your PC

Thanks for the advice but can you give it to me in laymans English please.
 
Do you absolutely need to send the pictures back to your PC, could you send them to somewhere on the internet (be it an FTP site, or other service) then pull them down from there when you get home?

Say I am doing an event, I want to put the photos online asap via zenfolio etc, I am away from home for 2 or 3 days, it is a scenario at the moment but I want to see if I can do it so that I have more time when at home for other things......:naughty:

do you not take a laptop? to be honest if i was out shooting for 2-3 days id take one and an inexpensive method of uploading (mobile phone/dongle may get pricey for transfers) to my chosen host.

Why not put them straight up to Zenfolio then?
 
If you are tehered to a laptop you should be able to.
