No
...or so she commented last night.

And it's got me wondering about other peoples experiences and thoughts on this. I pretty much put the camera bag in the car as routine now whenever I/we go out. I don't carry it into Tesco, but I might carry it around the shops, or wherever we might be. So far, on mundane trips out, it hasnt come out of the bag and I guess it's just there 'in case'. In case of what, I don't know... but 'just in case'.

Is this 'new camera enthusiasm'?

Am I abnormal?

Is this normal for most people on here?

Discuss...

Yep, that is normal :)

I didn't used to but now i do

And you leave your equipment in your car while in TESCO's? :O

Tony

I'm getting there... camera goes in rucksack if I'm doing adventurous stuff, or under jacket if I'm doing mundane things. Its not abnormal in the slightest.

Camera in car when I am.

I do it, but my brother thinks im mad

I never leave the house without it! The just in case part... well in the early days when I started out with my P&S, I remember missing a gorgeous shot of the morning mist on the Scottish mountains. We drove through at about 5am on the way up for a wedding that day. I'll never forget what I missed, and as a result it's always by my side these days. Hell, if I had to go to the docs I would take it too

Ok then all you "just in casers", it's time to go that one step further now. :D

Don't just carry around your camera off the off chance some amazing scene will appear in front of you one day. Get that camera out the bag and seek out some images with it.

My missus says if I'd spent as much on her body as I do on my Canon body she would be with a younger someone else now:shrug: Looks like I've been wasting my money

Take it everywhere. If I happen to leave it in the house when getting in the car to go somewhere my other half will comment and I'll go back and get it :)

If you think this is 'new camera enthusiasm' then your problems are only just beginning. It gets rapidly worse as your enthusiasm grows. I've just been to the dentist and even took it with me there - just in case - you never know what I will see on the way there!

I love my camera more than anyone because....

My camera does not lie
My camera does not deceive me
My camera does not demand my undivided attention
My camera does not need to be wrapped around my neck everwhere I blimmin go!
And finally, my camera doesnt strip me of all my cash!!!

......Oh! hang on... nooooooo!!!! :gag:

Seems my camera does all of those and more .... and Im just a total push over! :D

I tried and failed at a 365 once before but I am so tempted to start again.
I think your statement may well have pushed me to the "do it" train of thought

The 365 projects are really tough sometimes, I run something very similar myself and produce an image to go off in the post each day and I love doing it. There are times that a meeting or shoot runs late, I need to shoot, print and post todays image and it all gets a bit stressful. It is great though and I do think it really hones your eye to be always looking for shots.

Claire knows its so I can record every moment of our life together

 I'll remember that one!

Me too this afternoon... nice to know I won't be the first to turn up with a camera. TBH, I don't really care if it is/isn't normal. I was just a bit surprised when she made the comment, and wondered if it was something commonplace. And it did make me realise that I do, without even thinking, take it pretty much everywhere.

My problem with my lovely other half is outward support and encouragement but when it comes to hanging about while I take a considered shot, anything over 2 minutes is considered excessive. So at the moment I have a very expensive kit thats getting used a bit like a snapshot camera. Cant seem to shake him off - he wants to come with me everywhere (been together a long time!) and then gets bored and pretends he's not! Aaaaagh!

Yep it goes everywhere.....

It does not answer back...

It does not tut when on Computer....

And best of all does not know how to draft and sign divorce petition......

So I will not be raped of all my belongings and cash by the camera....

I think the camera is a winner...

Is this the voice of experience shutterman?

You know there is a reason divorce is so expensive........

It's worth it. :D:D

To true they should pull you aside at the wedding and give you your options before tumbling headlong into the pit of doom and despair.....

I would have definitely gone for door "B" if I had been warned.....

Signed

Bitter Twisted but Happy....

As long as she doesn't divorce you and claim half of your gear, or more, in settlement you should be alright m8 ...

Simply a normal other half response to something they cannot possibly hope to understand ... :suspect:

:p

My husband takes his camera everywhere even to work, i found the solution is to join him with the photography.

I DO love my camera more than the fella. Whats the problem? :D

This thread is seeing a lot of action - seems there must be truth in cameras being the love of one's life!

I must be in the minority, i only take it with me when i plan to take photos. The thing is too heavy to lug around all day.

I'm a Canon man, always have been, and when my wife asked me the same question,
I couldn't resist. I said I love Nikon more than you. Anyway 3 days in intensive care and I was soon back on my feet.

you strap it to your ankle?:p

Mine is seatbelted in the passenger seat.

Your wife is suffering from what is commonly known as dslr envy. It is in her mindset that the camera is more important than her. This is a most commuon Physcie and can be remedied very easily -take the wife to the shops and spend money on her whilst taking pics of the whole experience. This should be carried out frequently as a relapse of this medicine could plunge you into the deepest dakest depths of divorce- whereupon even though she hates your dslr, will demand to have half of it.:rules:

Glad to hear it is not just me then.

The wife always says why do you always take your camera, and half the time not even use it.....

I shall point her to this link when I get home!!

I take mine everywhere I go apart from when I am cycling to work, too bloody heavy for that... My GF gets embarrassed when I stop the car and start snapping away at something! :)

I certainly don't take my stuff everywhere with me. Too bloody heavy and if I'm out on the lash then there's a good chance I'll try and swap it for a go on some tasty floozy or a bottle of sambuca at some point!

Would never try and do that with a g/f. Oh no, course I wouldn't.

Besides, there's not much point in taking a camera to the cinema, a nightclub, the toilet, a funeral, a masons meeting. I could go on........

So no, I find the reciprocated love of another human being considerably warmer, moister and softer that my camera!
