My second course starts tomorrow night Basic Photography, i can wait which len's would you take,

the choice is

50mm 1.8
24-105mm L
18-125mm Sigma

Which would you take, i know nothing about the practical side, IE if we will be taking shots etc, i could do with some skills on file storage and tips on better shots.

Regards Mark.

I'd take all of them! I made the mistake of only taking my 50mm to college once and could really have done with a wide angle lens...

Many thanks for that, i will take them just in case the if i pull out the 24-105 it will immediately misrepresent myself as a guy who can take pictures:lol: and i would be attending the course in the shadow of the len's, ho decisions decisions.

What to wear should i shave or go for the indiana Jones look minus hat:lol:

Regards Mark.

I have a hat you can borrow if you wanna go for the full look :P

hiya sorry to butt in..... can you tell me where this course is and how often it is ran? I was trying to get on an evening course at tameside college just a basic one but they did not get back to me with the info i needed to enrol :bang:
i keep emailing in hope that someone will take just a moment to at least tell me when the next course is due to start.

If they haven't told you to bring a camera, I don't think I would. It could well be theory first...

Surely it would be better to take a camera and not need it that not to take one at all.

Mark, if you can take them all then do so. If you can only take one, then take the Sigma, you'll be covered for any focal length you may need. Of course, you could always phone them and ask. Good luck and have fun!

Basic toggery to me says body and 50mm.....that's pretty much how every SLR was sold 25+ years ago.

It started at Tameside last Mon ( 15th at 6pm ) , I"ll ask next Mon re the next course if you want ? I was the only one who turned up without their cam 1st nite , they have a stock of Canons for people who only have compacts , the course is geared towards DSLR"s using manual controls.

Oh btw everyone useing kit lens at the moment it appears , I took 17-50 Tamron and had 50mm 1.7 in bag as well.

Know what you mean , on my course 7 ladies & 6 gents , and I got lift home off one of the lovely ladies.

Nah just made me laugh Mark.

I think it's great so many women are getting into photography. I saw one elder lady ( must have been 70 if she was a day) getting in a coach the other day and thought "Bloomin' good for you! Now get that kit lens off and let's see what we can do "

Ahh 'tis one thing I genuinely love about toggin'. Does not matter your background, race, age, sex. Just can you take a good pic?

I'd sit next to you too and I'm blonde.................lol:lol:

Where is the photoshop course?

I rang the local colleges and found only Bolton that had one, plus when they read out the contents of course 2 (not basic) it was.
