Just wondering if you knowledgeable folk might be able to shed some light on it.
It won't wind on and the shutter doesn't fire.
Battery is good?

Does it need to be reset ? (Or is that the OM2?)

Just had the bottom off and un-jammed it, put it back together and it's jammed again. :olympus: (Not) :)

The OM-1 is full mechanical, the battery is only needed for the light-meter.

Here you can find the Service Manual and Parts Diagrams of several Olympus cameras, lenses, and accessories, included the OM-1: http://olympus.dementix.org/Hardware/

And check the tutorials at the bottom of the page.

But as Nick said, maybe it is time to let a professional take a look and do a proper CLA.

A last resort clean the magnets...going by memory  o_O they are easy to get at from the the lens mount.
But the OMs are not known to be a "tough" camera (say compared to Nikon) and doesn't surprise me they develope faults....after having a few OM10s, OM20s and OM2s it's odd that the only ones that I didn't having any problems were the OM10s, maybe it's because they weren't used much by joe public.

OM1 is fully mechanical so no magnets to clean. I managed to salvage a near dead OM20 by gentle application of methylated spirit but I suspect the 1 will need to go away to be looked at.

b****r. I need a new battery door for my OM2s, so looks like I'll have to soldier on with my MF Blad.
Life can be cruel sometimes.

Big thank you to Trevor for donating me his om1 and a 35mm 2.8 zuiko.

Way hey, that's the right kind of brother!
