My New Website

No location, no phone number.. you don't really want any clients, do you?

And very slow to load the images, there's not a deliberate delay built-in?

Far to slow to load, remember that clients need initial impact, otherwise they will move on to the next website.

Really?! Cheers guys. Loads quickly on mine and my folks laptops, but I'll have to look into that. Cheers for letting me know!

And thanks Alastair, those were the kind I stupid glaring mistakes I was talking about! :bonk:

The problem will only appear if visiting the website for the first time, once you have visited it once and it is in your catch then it will load quicker.

Just been on it in college as well and loaded straight away, so a bit baffled as to why it's being so slow for some others =\

I'm using my works network which has a 100 meg pipe to the internet, so you've definitely got issues.

Also tried it using ADSL and my HSDPA phone (whilst tethered). None of them loaded quickly.

Just for reference, there are at least 40 other websites running on the same IP address that your site is on which wouldn't normally be an issue, but it's running as a virtual server then other things on that machine could be causing the slowdown.

Also, don't forget that 'it works better the second time' won't wash with potential clients. Far better to go with a better host and keep the client there rather than forcing them away with looooong load times.

Could it be because it's just gone online with in the past say 12 hours so is still getting 'stable'? I dunno, just a random guess there

Cheers mate. Might have to look at a different host then. It's weird, just tried it on a few machines at college and loaded straight away, got a few friends to have a look on their machines and same, loaded fast.

Nope, the internet doesn't work that way. What may have happened at the beginning is something called DNS replication, if you'd changed the server it was on for example, but that would cause a different issue.

Looks like server speed is the issue here, whether it's on your server, or something that you've linked to on the page.

Opened your site.. hit refresh and it took almost 10 seconds to refresh the page, repeated the exercise and it was over 15 seconds before the menu options appeared. The logo image on the left is appearing first, the main image is taking several seconds after that, and the menu is bringing up the rear. The menu options are taking up to 5 seconds to load after the logo image appears.

I've backed horses that were quicker.. .. ;)

I had a site on that domain that was being hosted with pixpa, then I built this site with bludomain and hosted with them. Could that cause any speed issues?

Only if the bludomain (which i'd already found out was hosting your site) servers were garbage.

As an example - look at this forum. It's far far busier and more demanding on it's server(s) than your site, but it's still nice and responsive.

First port of call? Contact the host. Second? Move hosts.

Oh, and i've just looked at the BluDomain site.

Do you really want your website to look exactly the same as all the others on the 'websites' page of BluDomains? Cos from the little i've seen of your site it's a duplicate.

I like the colours and feel of the site with some great images but unfortunately on my 1280 pixels wide screen (still a pretty common resolution) I have to scroll horizontally to read the text as your pages are too wide for the screen.
