Hi all,

I have finally my new website live... built with a bludomain template... and included a blog with wordpress...

I would be glad to hear some critiques/suggestions/tips from you...

Thank you :)

Nor me

yes. It doesn't load any part of your page.

Its working fine for me, in XP ,IE and latest flash.

Some nice work their GB - though I don't 'get' the use of so much fish as props :)

I'm shortly to launch a new site and was planning on using BluDomain too - how good/easy/or not have you found them & their templates?

DD

Works for me in FF using XP.

First thing that struck me is when you visit the blog, there's no link back to the homepage and in effect there's two 'About me' pages. The AM page on the actual site doesn't do a lot for me with the writing over the photo. The small arrows when the slideshow's playing don't appear to do what I'd expect them to do, ie go to the next/previous image?

Other than those minor things, it looks like a good site.

Edit: Sorry, just found the link back to the homepage on the blog.

works well on my machine - vista.

Like the set up but for som reason I like to read about an artist in the third person. I think that would fit your 'persona' or at least the one I imagine you have!! Minor thought I know. Love the suid stuff and maybe that could be used as a bench mark for your obvious talents somehow better. I like the additio of music. It has an artistic feel to it, it now just needs to grow. Congrats!

Works fine as a website and works great for the images!

Some really fantastic lighting going on there, great stuff.

DD's only jealous! he doesn't get many fish on a wedding (insert trout joke here :))

Hi DD,

Thank you.

I think the guys there at BluDomain are great. If you google about them you will read a lot of complains and negative reviews they received in the past. Especially about their customer service. But I decided I liked their templates and wanted to have a go.

I never had any problems with them, there was some tweaking to be done with my template and they replied my email withing 24 hours and fixed the problem.

so  for them

g.

for me

Thanks for that GianniB - I know of at least 3 others who already have their templates and they recorded no complaints either, looks like I may be spending some $$$ soon enough then :)

As for AliB and her fish comment

Works now. Great site:)

I like the look of these Bludomain sites and the flash functionality, but I have to admit I ran a mile when seeing the feedback. Out of about 15 reviews I'd read, only one, maybe two were positive, there's a lot of recent negative feedback about them as well.

However, it seems to have been ok for you, you have a great looking site there.

Hi

Nice website, just think the landscape section doesn't fit in with the rest of your portfolio. A bit redundant really. All other sections involve people.

Hi Dman,

indeed the link back to the portfolio in the blog is a bit hidden, and I had problems to put it on the top of the layout. I will try to solve this in another way.

Regarding the AM section I think you are right as I am still not convinced if to leave that photo under the text or not. I will try to experiment some different solutions... or maybe to remove it completely.

The arrows of the slideshow worked fine for me... but this is Flash and sometimes does not work as it should.

Thanks you for your comment. Really appreciate

That is very impressive. You have done well..I really like the layout and the photos are fantastic too.

It is a nice layout etc. but the photos take quite a while to load. This is coming from someone with a 24mb connection...

Some lovely shots though

Looks good from here some great captures. But I'm always wary of sites that only have a mobile phone number and no address. Maybe I'm just paranoid though.

Any photographer that can get a model to put an octopus in her mouth doesn't need a website

Works fine on Vista and Google Chrome.
I'm not too keen on the Triptych design but navigation seems ok.
Nice site overall and i love your work :)

Hiya

Yes, some great shots on your site. I'm trying to work out where I've seen those shots before. Is it on here yonks ago? Or do I know you from somewhere else? Good stuff anyway. I like it.

Hi Hiddybiddy thank for your comment.
I think for now I will prefer to leavethe AM section in the third person. But maybe in the future I will change it.

 for the music, they are great guys that just started now and they're doing amazing music (for my tastes)

Thank you again :)

Thank you squizza...
As regard the landscape section... well it's all part of my photography... what I like to do and what I am interested to do... so I dont see the point not to show also this kind of work.

initially I thought it was a bit short on photos. In the portfolio section there was just a 4 shot slideshow and the word menu in a red bar on the right, and that was totally unclickable, there was no scroll bar at the bottom so obviously full screen. After faffing about for a couple of minutes clicking everything in site to no avail I gave up.

It was only because of the positive comments here that I revisited and eventually found that by making the IE8 window much much bigger on the big monitor (well beyond the dissapearance of teh scroll bar) that there was a menu to the right. You may want to look into its operation at different window sizes and the horizontal scroll bar operation, without this forum I would have walked away from your website.

Otherwise, thought it was good

just checked on the old xp IE7 laptop and the sizing and scroll were all fine on there, may be an IE8 thing?

I have to say if you are a Pro you are breaking UK law with your web site
You have not got any info re address e-mail address and I found it hard to know where you are in the world at fist as you have a dot Com not a Co.Uk it is only one line where you say 'I am an Italian photographer based in Liverpool, UK' in your about page.

Good looking site Gianni and I really like the triptych design. I also use a BluDomain site and like you I have never had any issues with their customer service which has been excellent in the couple of times I have used them.

What template are you using as I'm thinking of changing mine - my usual 18 month refresh! :D

Business Names Act 1985 ? obviously not the original as websites were not around then, but I suspect its been revised a few times

and a quick search found this specifically which appears to be specific to Companies:
http://www.opsi.gov.uk/si/si2008/uksi_20080495_en_1

that’s part of it
I can’t find the link to the info now But
AS I remember you have to have the same info on web and e-mails as you do letter heads.
That is things like You real name an address and phone number, it got something to do with you can be found if anyone wishes to serve a writ or summons on you.
There is more to it but I post info as soon as I find it
There is more to working for yourself then just the job.
This is why things like the FSB are there.

Hi Chaz,

thanks for your comment...

well I am not a PRO, but I intend to be in one year... I dont earn money from my photographs so far... and I dont have a register company.

This website is more intended as a portfolio to show my work... I know there is a page 'clients' and this is because if in the future I will be paid by models to do their portfolio... then is the only way I can show them the photos to choose.

I have seen many website of photographers in uk... and lot of them were just with the telephone number...

as regard the .com I would prefer to leave it like that... as I actually live in England but maybe not in the future...so I preferred .com instead of co.uk

You do not have to have register company just make any money for a businesses if you fall foul of the law there is a fine of up to £1000.
Just for info to you and anyone else on here, this has been talked about before but I can not find the link to it.
