Well, Christmas came early this week, when a work colleague brought in some old cameras he said I could have (and he didn't want any payment), well here are some quick snaps of them, anyone know anything about them (searching Google for manuals as I speak).

1. Samoca MR 35mm Range finder I believe)

2. Zeiss Ikon Ikoflex.

Don't know anything about any of them but the TLRs look nice. Can you still get film for them?

From the info I have found so far the TLRs use 120 film, have some of that at the moment so looking forward to having a play.

I massively wana have a go with cine sometime, dunno about making +ves of the film though

Have allot of reading to do on that one, do want to have a play though :D

I'm not familiar with the other TLR, but I do remember the Lubitel 166B. We used to sell them when I retailed back in the late 80s, and they sold for around £30. It does indeed use 120 roll film - it's 6x6 format. Plenty of film available in black & white or colour, so definitely worth trying it out.

Lubitel is Russian, dead common, dead cheap, built like a tank and will probably last for ever - a popular 120 option. Ikon, similar but a bit more pricey and German not Russian. MR looks to be the standard RF-type from50'6 to 60's, 35mm most likely and unless the RF prism has been knocked about should be OK as well. Cine? No idea, sorry!

Arthur

Ikoflex, 1960s budget Rollie with a twist, it has a built in meter, typical German build, should last forever, I would check the meter for accuracy.

Dave.

Love the Ikoflex, had one years ago, brilliant piece of kit. As dizidav said, check the meter for accuracy.

Thanks for that, Have some B&W 120 to run through it at some point (time of work allowing)

Fits with what I have found on the web so far, have managed to get a download of the manuals for the TLRs so far, struggling with the rangefinder and cine at the moment.

Dave.

Thanks, had noticed the meter but wasn't sure if it would be accurate to be honest, have a light meter I use for studio (flash and ambient) that should help me there though, or failing that will meter with one of the DSLRs to get the settings for now.

Do like that one, feels very well put together

Must say that I am looking forward to using these, and if worst comes to worst and they don't work quite right (or at all) then they will make nice show pieces :D
