Yes
Been waiting since 20th Dec for the postman to knock on the door with my new lens, but it never happened. I have since spoken to RM as it was sent 'Special Delivery' who have basically told me to go away and wait until 8th Jan when I can go and get a 'lost in post' form from the post office.

Has any one been here before? or got any advice as to whether it is up to me to chase or for the seller to sort out?

:( TIA.

:(
Oh dear....I dont know if its just Royal Mail lately or what. But I posted a parcel on the 10th December, for christmas and they only recieved it yesterday!!

You should have a special delivery, or a recorded delivery number from proof of purchase, you are meant to be able to chase this online [or on the phone] and if its not been signed for [which these have to be] then as far as im aware, they should be sorting it out asap.

I dread it when I order anything and the courier is ParcelForce. Their online tracking system is never up to date on where your parcel is or it's not even listed. They takes ages to deliver. The joke of it is their depot is less than two miles away from my house!

Thanks for the reply and indeed you can and its almost as usefull as the young chap I spoke to at the call centre......Your item is currently progressing through our network for delivery.
To check your item's progress please come back later.

I would have hoped at least a refund of Special Delivery cost to the seller \ sender?

Mrp im sure under the mail order laws its the sellers responsability to unsure your item is delivared to you. They should re issue the parcel (asuming its not a second hand once only item) and they should sort out the issues with royal mail. My advice would be to stop chasing royal mail and chace your seller.

It's not just RM, I am still waiting for a Next Working Day delivery from Fedex that they collected on the 24th. I think I should have got it last Thursday or Friday. :(

At least I can follow it via tracking and can see it's been on the delivery van since 28/12/2007 8:24 AM pity that van is parked up only 30 miles away..

I would think you should tell the person who sent your parcel that it has not arrived and it's up to them to contact RM or give you a refund

RM Special Delivery is usually quite good. If it was really sent by RMSD on the 20th then it should have arrived on the 21st. Get the tracking number from the sender and check on the RM web site.

This is absolutely the case, if it was bought from a shop then you need to contact them for another to be sent straight away. It is the shop's responsibility to get it to you. If however it is 2nd hand from ebay then the seller will have to wait till the 8th to claim. The seller is able to claim back their postage anyway as it was not delivered next day as is the point of special delivery.

It is new from Kerso and I have advised (pestered) him but I'm unsure how to proceed.

You've ordered goods from a trader, they've not been delivered, it's up to him to sort it out by refunding or replacing.

It's also up to him to sort it out with Royal Mail, don't put up with any nonsense about having to wait for Royal Mail to confirm it's missing. In the event that two parcels eventually arrive notify him that one needs to be returned and it's up to him to cover the cost of return postage.

Aye, it's Kerso's responsibility to get it sorted for you one way or the other, I'm sure he knows that but it won't hurt for you to remind him. Chances are he'll get the same runaround from RM that you do but at least it won't be going on your phone bill.

Thanks for the advise guys. I have tried since before xmas to conact Kerso via 3 different emails PMs on various forums and to say that he is slow to reply is being polite. And RM will only deal with the sender not the recipient.:bang:

I have never dealt with Kerso myself but he has had nothing but positive feedback in the for sale sections and elsewhere on the forum. Clearly he sent it as agreed and RM have lost it. I know how annoying it is when you pay for something and it takes forever or goes missing. Maybe Kerso is having a few days off and doesn't even know about the problem. He must get lots of business from here I am sure he wouldn't jeperdise that with knowingly bad service. I bet as soon as he realises what has happened it will all be sorted out.

I know he was having email probs this last few weeks. I got contact with him on

kerso1123@msn.com

I have too heard good reports on Kerso's service and I have faith that eventually he will sort it. But its a pain that I am stuck between Royal Mail's policy and silence..............

Kerso is in Florida with limited access to email.

Royal Mail Special Delivery is supposed to be next working day, with some insurance. The parcel post system is not timed and at this time of year suffers huge backlog.

The Contract of Delivery is between the seller and the postal service, and the post service doesn't treat something as lost until 30 days have elapsed since sending.

Ian (Kerso) is indeed in Florida and contacted me late on New Year's Eve. He asked me to pass on his apologies to anyone trying to get hold of him. He has 00's of e-mails and assured me that he will get back to you all. Try using 2kerso@gmail.com and re-send your query there.

silence..............

and that's the reason I don't use him anymore

mrp's contract isn't with Royal Mail though, it's with Kerso. It was, from what we've seen here, for next day delivery, it hasn't happened. If everything is as it seems it's unacceptable for mrp to have to wait 30 days for Kerso and the RM to sort it out. Edit: we wouldn't accept that from the likes of Warehouse Express so why should we here?

if it was supposed to be next day delivery, then yes there has to be some resolution, but was just pointing out that its Kerso that has to chase up the post office and the fact the RM do not do anything until 30 days has passed.

I have nothing to add to whats been said above, BUT

It has just been the Christmas and New Year period, As has been said above, Ian Maybe away on holiday with limited access to emails etc.

I know it can be frustrating when things dont arrive on time, (it happens), Ian isnt going to run off with your money or forget about you.

You no doubt saved yourself a lot of money by buying of Ian (I know I have). Ians service is usually very very good, this is unfortunate its happened over the holiday period, which makes this take longer.

Email Ian and he will sort it out, I have no doubt about that.

Yup Royal Mail are terrible. They have lost my parcels before, and then had the balls to say well we have no signature for it and the customer hasnt contacted us so we assume its been delivered!!!
Needless to say i didnt sit on that and complained and then received a full refund (well after i chased and chased for 3 months)
and just before chrimbo i ordered my 40D from DigitalRev in Hong Kong. UPS managed to ship it and get it to me within 4 days!
Royal mail cant even do a few hundred miles and get it there within that time.

Rubbish Royal Mail. they should be called Average Mail, or Maybe Mail....

Nick, Just back this morning from 1 week away. Sorry to hear you have not received lens. Let me clear this up before everyone has a go!
You paid for a 17-55mm IS on 9th December. You said it was a bad copy, I asked if you could make sure it definately was before you returned to me for an exchange. You then contacted me to say you were sure it was a bad copy. I asked you to return it for exchange. I then sent one as soon as I received fresh stock. It was posted out and you have not received it. I understand your frustration. I did reply to all PMs on TP from Florida and replied to you with Heathers number and a track no. for Royal Mail so not sure where the silence bit came from unless you meant the few days without a reply? Do not worry I only send fully insured so you WILL NOT lose out. You must understand it is Royal Mail who have failed here. Hopefully lens will arrive tomorrow. Please PM me but don't do it on this thread as it only gives extra work for the moderators on here. Best regards Ian.

Having brought from Ian before xmas, All I can say is what excellent service I got, Thanks Ian :)
I can understand your frustration MRP, but having been told that he is on holiday at the moment you still say that all you have had is silence from Ian, I do not think that there are many people who when they are on holiday will carry on answering business emails or even bother checking them. All I can say is I hope Ian gets an apology when this is sorted. As for demanding another item before it can be reported as missing, look at it from this stand point, if it is delayed due to the xmas post and they have until the 8th of Jan before they class it as missing, Would You send out another item as there is a possibility that it would still be delivered and ( I am not saying that you would) but there is the possibility that the person would not send back one of the lenses sent, then Ian would be the one out of Pocket. I am putting this from the point of someone who was a retail manager and had this happen with a customer.

Ian
Please realise that the purpose of the thread was to ask peoples advice on Royal Mail losing items, certainly not to have a pop at you. Like I say I have faith in your service but was frustrated with the situation. I hoped that was clear.

Sorry for being a bit slow on the uptake kerso but what do you mean by it was a bad copy?

I took a number of 100% crops with the lens and my kit lens and the kit lens was by far sharper. At F2.8 the text was illegible.

Remember if anything has been sent from Scotland that we've been on holiday until today so anything posted at the beginning of this week might only have gone today for delivery tomorrow or later.

Mike.

Not really the point when you pay Royal Mail next day delivery though is it.

Well it is is if like me you go in the PO on Moday 31st at 12 noon and find out the last pick was 11:15 and the Special Delivery parcel you are sending WON'T go until Thursday 3rd and be delivered Friday 4th.

Mike.

I believe the service is next working day...

Which if posted on the 20th Dec like he said (being a Thursday) would make it the next day (Friday).:D

Not having a pop but if if you make it Next WORKING day, posted on the 20th and still not here 7 Working days later..

Poo service from RM.

No it isn't... the clue is NEXT DAY.. if they sell you a service for next day delivery, then you expect it to arrive the NEXT DAY. They should explain the cut off points, and charge for a 2 day service accordingly

It's next working day, and from memory it's delivery before 9am or 1pm depending on price paid.

Funnily enough I don't have a problem sending mail via certain sorting offices, however other ones seem to leave a lot to be desired, anything going south from me always arrives next day and by this I mean 1st class, but coming northwards it takes a day longer, I've even had local mail sent and delivered on the same day around here, mind you I think during the festive period they no doubt, along with courier firms too hire part time holiday staff, who I have no doubt see plenty of packages they know to be worth more than their wage..... I'm sure you can work out the rest.

My boss had ordered a £600 laptop and it never arrived...... mmmmm I wonder where that went?

I think a lot of problems in workplaces about efficiency suffer as most of society does these days in that nobody cares anymore and even less so if it doesn't affect them, very few people take pride in their work any more.

Hope the OP gets this sorted and I hope Ian ( kerso ) can get his money back for the lost lens, although you have to wait 15 days from expected delivery date before you can even start a claim !

Mike.

Nick, Heather has e-mailed me to say that the track no. is now saying the package has been delivered! Please advise you have lens. Regards Ian.
