I took voluntary redundancy from Toyota's car factory and finished on the 29th of September. And yesterday i shook hands on a job offer at a Toyota dealer five miles away from my house. This offer was the result of sending a speculative CV to them. This proves my belief that most jobs are not advertised.

Anyone in TP-land that is out of work firstly you have my deepest respect and secondly, dont give up, if you are good at what you do i'm sure something will go your way soon enough.:)

well done Dave.... are there gonna be any TP discounts ?

Congratulations
My friends other half did exactly the same as you and was looking forward to spending a few weeks off with his partner & new daughter while job hunting. His plans were scuppered somewhat when he found a new job almost straight away :D

AndyJ... if you want to buy Toyota parts from me i'll make sure they ship them.
Jim, i know what you mean, i have a string of DIY jobs i wanted to get done and had penciled in a week to go walk-about with my camera. All gone to pot. Shouldnt moan though.

Well done that man. speculate to accumulate, job hunting is like fishing throw out you line and real them in.

;) i must be getting old as the Toyota Lexus 400 is looking more appealing

Merc

Congrats Dave,

Not many people realise that serious job hunting is a full time job in itself. I quit my job 4 weeks ago after being messed around something chronic. I had 2 interviews yesterday, 3 today, and I've set up for a round of "2nd's" for next week. All have come from me contacting potential employers.

Good on you for being proactive.

Steve

I've got to say i was not happy with the way the DWP people treated me. Very condesending and obviously put everyone who sits in front of them in the same box along with those who dont want to work. Thier general attidude sucked.

A few years ago I got made redundant at the jobcentre actually told me that they "don't cater for people like you". Meaning that if you really want a job and have skills they can't do much for you. Also they told me that they were not allowed to advise me of what I was allowed to claim !!

What really did astound me were the amount of people in their that couldn't speak English. If I emigrated to (say) Spain, I wouldn't expect to get a job if I couldn't speak the lingo.... :shake:
