Hi everyone,

I have a Logitech Mx510, shown below:

For some reason, my left mouse button has stopped working all together! I had to navigate into the Control Panel using the keyboard and switch left click to right click, and right click to left click. This is a bit annoying, anyone know what could've caused it? Or how to fix it?

Cheers,
Steven

Funnily enough I had that happen to my mouse at work. It felt like the spring under the button had gone :( tbh I doubt you'll be able to fix it :shake:

Seems like you'll be needing a new one for Christ-mouse :D

Usually when a mouse goes wrong either the switch has failed or the cable has cracked. The cable fails inside the outer sheath right at the point where it flexes as it leaves the mouse. You won't see the break but you might feel it. If it works when you push/bend the wire you know where the problem is. All you need then is patience and some soldering skills to cut the bad bit of wire out and re-attach the end.

Personally having repaired a few in the past I'd buy a new mouse :)

This might help! Logitech often have a 3 or 5 year warranty. Ring them up and give them the serial number off the bottom and they will send you a new one with a sticker to send back the old one. I had a logitech wireless keyboard and mouse. I rang them up when the keyboard stopped working and they sent me a new one and just wanted the mouse and keyboard plugs cut off the remote sender sent back to them (which I forgot to do anyway!)

If that doesn't work PM me and if it is a faulty microswitch/cable I will fix it for you if you pay the postage each way and a microswitch/cable!

Thanks for that, I'll check out my warranty tomorrow!

I was gonna suggest that.
I've had microsoft mice for ages. Intellimouse Explorer I had suffered cable failure where it enters the mouse. The replacement just wore out (the wheel lost grip and gummed up) so i replaced it with the new version... which is suffering intermittent clicks. After half an hour on the phone, they're sending me a new one :D just hope its still a wired mouse.

I've fixed our MX510 on the kids games PC twice now (the one on my PC is ok ) .

Unscrew the base , cut the wires , strip them back & solder.

or if you haven't lost the receipt :bang::'( , contact Logitech :)

My mouse is an HP one that came with computer. Very good but they recommend you don't put in rechargeable batteries!!! The batteries usually only last a couple of months!
