Hi,

I couldnt help my Nikon mate as I own a canon and have never used one so unfortunately couldnt offer him advice. He first thought he had something wrong with the sensor, but Ive zoomed in and there are defined little crosses running through the whole image.

Here's the image,

and here is a link to the full size so you can download/zoom in.

Its probably a feature he has switched on, any help would be really appreciated.

Cheers everyone :)

I've looked at it and honestly can't see any lines or crosses.

Maybe it's a monitor issue?

EDIT: yes, spotted them in the shadow of the building on the right. Looks a little like dead/hot pixels... they look equidistant so that leads me to think of a sensor issue

Look like hot pixels, but strange pattern.

Is this just recently starting happening? Is it a new camera to him?
Is it on all the images from the camera.

Once you spot them they become noticeable all over. Some are small black crosses and others tiny orange dots. They seem to run in straight lines across the pic.

Never seen anything like it. Can only guess at a sensor problem. Have your mate email Nikon Help

They appear blue to me, but they do look like a bit like hot pixels.
D800's all have a hot pixel issue on long exposures of a minute or more if you dont use In camera noise reduction.
That should not be a problem here so I agree it does seem to indicate a sensor problem.

I would contact Nikon UK and you can submit the images for them to analyse at no cost initially
