Many of the regulars here will know that I'm a musician...a percussionist to be precise. Well, last December I bought myself a new gigging drum kit, and as drummers know the snare drums supplied with all but the best kits are total crap. So I've decided to have a go at painting mine :D

So I've stripped all the hardware off it, keyed the laquer and am now just waiting for the 3rd coat of paint to dry before I add a couple more, then leave it 24 hours and add some stencilling, then another 24 hours and I'll laquer it and hopefully be ready to use it on a gig next week :D

If all goes to plan with the painting my next project will be to build a snare drum from the ground up, then maybe a whole drum kit :D

I've always wanted a custom snare, and there's no way I'll ever afford one lmao. At least on this drum the paint job will be custom, but it's really just to see if I'm any good with the rattle cans. If it turns out ok (so far so good) then I'll maybe lay out a bit of cash on a blank shell and all the hardware, but at £55-£65 a shell it's an expensive mistake to make by fricking it up!

I know where I went wrong, so I'll be trying again on a fresh shell.
 
LMAO, no Sean...but it's incredibally embarassing lmao. I've ****ed up a perfectly servicable snare drum for no reason...:bang:
