I have a decent spec PC but am unable to sit at it due to mobility/health problems. So have been using a Toshiba laptop which I know isn't ideal but I can't afford to do much about that!!!

BUT my Toshiba is a few years old and I know needs a replacement so what do I do as I have just bought a Fuji X10 and a Panasonic G2 both with the usual extra bits and bobs so my 'Tech Money Pot' is well down.

Sorry if this question has been asked before (I have searched) but what is the lowest price laptop I can get away with i.e. maximum £350 and I mean maximum.

If your laptop hasn't had Windows reinstalled on it recently, I'd seriously try that first - after 6-12 months of normal use they acquire a lot of crud in system directories, registry etc that slows the machine down...

This is less likely to be a problem if it's Windows7.

Thanks for all the replies so far.

If it was easy as a windows reinstall I may try that (if I knew how  )but two other serious problems.

Firstly the battery is at the end of its life - even when fully charged it lasts for about 5/10 minutes maximum.

Secondly the connector from the mains cable where it plugs into the side of the laptop. The inside bit (in the body of the laptop) has become looser and looser to a point where we no longer unplug it as we are scared we will not be able to get it back in.

I will take a look at the suggestions and hope I can make a decision quicker than my recent camera purchase - it took about 4 months :cuckoo:

I recently bought 4 of the Fujitsu laptops for some of the guys at work, they are good solid laptops with a very reasonable spec for the price
