Hi all,

If you look at my post count it might seem that I'm not exactly new here, but I've never been one to do the welcome forum thing because (shamefully) I only use internet forums to ask questions and get answers etc. However, after being here a month I can see what a thriving community this place is and how fortunate I am to have stumbled upon it. Therefore, although a little overdue, I thought I would introduce myself!

I'm currently in my last few months of studying for a degree in economics at Cambridge university. Once I graduate in the summer I (hopefully) will still have a job lined up for September, but prior to that I have a couple of months to go travelling and have some fun. Photography is not new for me, I was a keen user of P/S and prosumer cameras until about a year ago when I bought the 450D when it first came out. Since then I have caught the lens disease, something affectionately known as 'lens lust' amongst my friends, and now have a list of kit that will probably take me the next 5 years to buy!

That said, I am really satisfied with a 3 nice pieces of glass at the moment and am really experimenting in different areas of photography to see what I really like. It's phenomenal what you can do with a camera, and to think I was pleased with my P/S results!

Anyhow, I don't want to bore you all, but for those who can't get enough, I'm more than happy to give you all an economics seminar at one of your 'meets'.

Mike.

PS: I'm not sure if this is allowed, so I guess it will be moderated out if its not! I consider myself an ethical economist, and if you consider yourself to be charitable, but want your money back, please consider supporting a microfinance project such as the one here - www.kiva.org

At Kiva you lend $25 to an entrepreneur to help them start a business, and they pay you back over the course of their first year in business. I have made about half-a-dozen loans and no one has defaulted on me yet! It goes without saying, but I have NOTHING to benefit from you participating with the work of Kiva.

Hi oldman :tumbleweed:

come on in...

...oh - you already did...

Hello and welcome to you, an ethical economist - living in interesting times which I'm sure must be challenging but excellent to study.

Hope you're enjoying Cambridge - I'm sure the pretty snow that only turns up in Cambridge maybe once in ten years isn't distracting you from your studies at all.

You'll know but the backs view of Kings and Coe Fen are particularly pretty in snow!

Sue
