My illegal shennanigans from today...

I read these legal threads with interest, especially because of what I do for a living. It seems that most people (if not all) here have a healthy attitude to photography, and it's an attitude we need to keep up.

It's very easy to believe that "perverts are everywhere". I've met quite a few in my time, and I work in a very busy Central London borough. Thankfully, I can't think of any of them that were wandering the streets or taking long-distance photos of kiddies in parks. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but it really isn't as common as people think. Most paedophiles I have met - including those with images - didn't take pictures themselves, and those that did didn't generally do it "out & about".

I can't change general attitudes, but I try to do my bit to reassure people.
:clap:Well Put!

Nice one, I've met some of your nice colleges in Central London and they have been happy to POSE for a checky shot !! not like some of the posts would make you think on here..

When i venture out with my camera i get people come and ask what I'm doing (so fed up of it i cannot bring myself to even talk to them) I've a camera in hand and more often that not a bulky tripod, along with a bag with filters and extra glass, still they have to ask what i am doing.

Give them a Victor Meldrew reply: "I'm creosoting a rhinocerous".

Steve.

It's a sad reflection of society at the moment.

Do you think it could be partly down to your equipment also, i.e with most people owning a compact, they might be thinking why would you want/need a big camera. Therefore you must be up to something.

I was in London a few years ago, the most touristy photographed place in the country perhaps. I took a photo, see below. Did get a few glares off parents :bang:

Slightly off subect but Louis Theroux did a documentary about a correctional facility somewhere in the states for convicted paedophiles. Its a brilliant watch, funny and disturbing at the same time. If you watch it youll never be able to listen to the Adams family theme song in the same way again.

Isn't that a man shooting with a P&S in the black t-shirt? On topic, I know what you mean about these 'dagger looks' you get off parents. I was taking pictures of my nieces +girlfriend the other week on the promenade with the Canon 70-200 L f/2.8 with the lens hood on and could see people drawing me strange looks.

Doesn't put me off though, it's their problem, not mine.

I saw that, what a strange legal limbo they seem to be in. Best place for them I think though, and the Adams family singing was creepily hilarious.
