So, how much have you and your equipment changed over the century's..?
When I first joined TP, I had certain ideas about what gear I wanted, and what I didn't want - see below..:
I want a long-ish zoom for my EOS300d and soon to be 30d.
However, from what I read, the L 70-200f4 (2.8 way too much for me..) is the one to buy, BUT, I do not want a lens that says 'PRO' or Steal Me !
So, what is there in the 70-200/300 ish range that has IS and is close to the L in qualtiy, but looks like a 'normal' lens
Today, I took delivery of a 70-200 2.8 IS
In the last few months, I have gone from a 300d with kit lens, to a 30d, 10-22, 17-55 2.8, 50 1.4 and 70-200, with a 24-105, 50 1.8 and 70-300 passing through my hands on the way. Franchise Juan suggested in one of my first posts that I got the right gear first time, but no, I needed to learn my way. I have to say that the 70-200 is big, and will attract attention to me in a way I am not sure how I'll cope with, but it will do the job in a way that my (ex) 70-300 didn't - too slow to focus, hunting in low light, and it doubled in size when zoomed out..
I feel I now have the lenses I need, and apart from a second body (well, I've got to shift the 300d and get something more like another 30d or a 40d or a 5d, haven't I ??) so hopefully my buying frenzy has come to an end(almost) so it now remains for me to take some decent pictures, but I am amazed how much my needs have changed as I have learnt more and discovered what matters most to me - ie fast lenses for low-ish light and rapid focusing.
Expensive learning curve or what... (and in the year I stopped doing much well-paid work and took a massive pay cut - seems like I have spent almost more than I have earned on equipment since I joined TP..!)
