My Hermes yet again

I had a parcel, via Amazon recently,
Following the tracking,
It was picked up at 4 am from Ridgmont, the distribution warehouse, Nr M1 J13 about 5 miles away. Next stop Northampton about 20 miles north of me.
It was then out for delivery at 09:40 arriving before 10pm .. ( it actually arrived around 5pm. )
I hope the parcel enjoyed the ride :)

Why they don't have the distribution depot at the same location god only knows!

These days all couriers are bad and lie, even more so at busy times such as Christmas. Hermes are the worst. I once worked close to a Hermes depot. Their drivers were mainly using private cars. They would park in any space they could find, I witnessed so many heated arguments over this. They would wheel out cages to their cars, empty the parcels/packages onto the ground whatever the weather, soaking wet parcels/packages would be loaded into cars in 'order of delivery' filling passenger seats up to the roof, many wedged against the front window. Some drivers would have their partners join them when they couldn't fit it all in, utter chaos. I photographed them, some didn't like it but tough. I have never witnessed so much utter chaos.

Not my experience - I have made intensive use of online shopping over the last 15 years or so :-

DPD - perfect.
Amazon - very good
Parcelforce - good
RM (postman deliveries) - OK, but on a long slow decline
Herpes - TOFFS carrier (The Oh For F... Sake)
UPS & DHL - rarely see them here, but no problem so far.

Had 2 deliveries today from different couriers. First one stuck the parcel in the meter cupboard and posted the keys through the front door as requested. 2nd chap, finding the note but no keys, phoned Mrs Nod for instructions since he was aware that many people would be away from home for a few days and he didn't want to leave 2 big boxes on the doorstep. One fitted in the (empty) rubbish bin and the other went under the bush behind it, out of view from the road. Thanks, DHL and whoever else delivered this morning!

(IF we hadn't had an e-mail from the 2nd company telling us that our delivery was going to be delayed, we'd have stuck the alternative note [asking them to simply stick parcels in the cupboard and not post the keys through the letterbox] on the front door. However, the size of the delivery would have made it a rather tight fit!!!)
