My Hermes ... My Herpes more like....

Does asking them to sign a letter saying they have the correct insurance fulfil that obligation though.

I recently signed up with Royal Mail sameday, I had to send copies of my driving licence, H&R insurance, 20k goods in transit, 2m public liability, pictures of the van, they did a CRB check before I was approved

I'm pretty sure if the other courier companies asked for the same they'd have a huge pile of parcels with nobody to deliver them come Monday morning

a CRB check? How many children do you deliver on a daily/weekly basis?

It's just something you have to have, all RM drivers have it, as far as m aware it's not just children a CRB covers, it's vulnerable people as well.

Oh they have a forum..... ;-)

Yep which is infuriating as they spend 99.99999% of the time slagging off the company and complaining. Yet they still work there

hi
I thought I'd search for HERMES on the threads because I just learned something new about their services...
Their insurance does NOT cover glass...
okay, mirrors. fair enough, but after someone's comment I contacted them...
This includes camera lenses.
So the upshot is that anything that contains glass as part of it's composition or internal workings is NOT covered by insurance should be it damaged in transit.
I genuinely thought my parcels were covered up to a reasonable amount and so thought I'd share this with any equally misinformed people.

from Hermes via Facebook said:
Hi Matt, Thank you for your message. Please be advised that all parcels that are made partly or wholly of glass are excluded. In the unlikely event that the lens was damaged in anyway it would not be covered by insurance. Kind Regards, Gaz

it does say that in their "what we carry" page though..

"A FULL LIST OF GOODS EXCLUDED FROM COMPENSATION

Please be aware that the following goods are Excluded from Compensation for Damage:

Ceramic or composite items of any description; including without limitation; glass, mirrored items, crystal, ceramic porcelain, plaster, marble, china, stone, slate, resin, granite, concrete (or any item containing these materials)"

I guess a CRB would be used to check for theft offences too?

All RM employees whether van drivers of not are checked for criminal records to safeguard the mail, doesn't seem to work
all the time though :(

Didn't think myhermes covered electronics either so with that list of materials almost b****r all is covered...

I think we will see a lot more of this behaviour. Its all there business models in courage it. They get t peanuts per drop and nothing for w redelivery I suspect.
