Well I've finally got my website and blog up and running and thought I would post it here to see what people's thoughts on it are. So please any comments however harsh and critical would be gratefully received.

I know it is ultimately short of the amount of content I would like to have on a commercial site, but I am hoping this will grow with time as my portfolio develops.

It can be found here: www.richardmatherphotography.co.uk

Thanks for looking

My advice - if you want to get business - ditch the hand scripted font. It looks unprofessional. I'm not saying you cant use a hand scripted font - just not that one! it makes it look like a child is running your site.

(but hey - that's just like, my opinion, man)

Couple of things. Do not use Comic Sans fonts, it is a terrible font and does not lend itself to a professional wedding photographer. Second is the galleries do not have any other site info on them, they are just galleries I presume made in Lightroom. Again you have to hit the back button to get to them. Sorry to sound harsh, but it is easily fixable. To use an old photo term, there is a great website in there struggling to get out.

Only had a quick peep, but noticed when you point your mouse at a navigation tab at the top (ie mouseover Home/About/Prices etc) the pop up text says "Navigation Button 1" etc, you'll need to work out how to sort that out I think!
But good luck - I'm going to be setting up a photo website soon so will be watching you with interest!

another recommendation to ditch the font

is "Lastest / News" meant to be "Latest / News"?

You use a capital C for clients - it doesn't look right

I would put more images in the gallery - they don't have to be wedding related, it will give prospective clients something else to be impressed by

I like the black background and love the family pics on the blog

Agreed the fonts aren't right; also a typo on the front page "lastest news". Don't like the decoration on the background...distracts from the photos IMHO.

As a designer, I would say stay away from any too decorative fonts, and anything like bevel and emboss, outer glows, or anything too fancy. Simple is best IMO.

Apart from that your site is looking very professional nice portfolio work.
