My first real book

Congratulations Pete! It's nice to see you have come so far. Very much well deserved recognition going to come from this, you just wait and see ;)

As soon as I have the dosh I'll be ordering my copy, do have spare ones if they sell out before that happens? (though I am serious).

I'd also like my copy signed at some point, perhaps if I finally get to a meet I can bring it with me. Then I can watch you blush too

Once again, congratulations Mr Pete Carr

Well done, congratulations on all of your hard work paying off

Its not all HDR :D Its whatever made the picture. HDR, colour, black and white, flash, natural light, etc. Liverpool as I see it. I haven't counted the number of HDR pics though ;)

For me it's just nice to see it's possible for a talented individual to achive something based on hard graft and the artistic value of their work rather than go down the wedding/portrait route to professional photography. I hope it earns you plenty of cash along side the priceless profile raising and inevitable confidence boost.

Just had mail from waterstones to let me know the Book is winging its way to me in the post...

Just thought I would let you know they are on the move...

Nigel

Well, I went to Waterstones in Chatham, Kent today and silly me forgot the title but eventually found it (I thought it was Art of Culture - wasn't far wrong) so have ordered a copy :D:D:D:D

Pete, may I add my congratulations on your being published, it's a very special thing.

My wife has ordered one for me as a Christmas present:)

Just finished first pass through the book as it arrived whilst I was at work and it is very impressive Pete. I think you have done yourself proud mate.

Feel like I have visited the place now.. and the flow of the book and images works very well.

Top notch mate..

Only just caught up on this thread, and, Peter, I want to congratulate you on the launch of what I hope will be a successful venture.
I wonder if it's worth me putting together my own book, showing off some of my cartoons. Heck, I've got enough material to rival Britannia Encyclopedia!
I've had people saying I should do it, but I'm not so sure myself.

I too, have just noted this thread, and so you get a cracking well done Pete. I will be having a look out for it on Friday when I go perusing the book shops!!!

Again well done and congrats:clap::thumbs::notworthy:

Thanks guys. It really means a lot that people are buying and enjoying the book. :)

Congrats Pete, a job well done there. Been a big fan of your work for a while so i think i may well have a purchase of this book.

When I've looked at it in more detail I'm pm you, I'm on nights so haven't had much chance yet.

As an aside, anyone want to join Amazon's Virgin wine Bank at www.virginwines.com/amazon40 ?
They sent me a £40 off voucher with Pete's book and I don't drink.

Awesome. Hope you enjoy it :)

Good work Pete.

I'd be interested to know how you went about this project.

4 or 5 years ago I setup a photoblog. I posted photos when I took them, documenting Liverpool. About 2 years ago I decided to post 1 photo a day instead so that each day there would be new content to bring people back. So I rebranded the blog as I'm the only person covering Liverpool on a daily basis in this way. I figured that meant something, and with the traffic I was getting I felt that things were working. So I kept going, got access to people and places and in summer 07 tried to make a book. I asked about and found the best thing to do was to get a publisher. They would cover the production cost and help out. I read some submission guidelines and figured that was far too complex. They needed a sample chapter, figures, stats, info and things. I only had some photos and I only wanted to publish some photos. They loved them and we had various meetings. Eventually we made a book.

Does this mean you can now join the British Library?
I think you can only go in there if you have a book published.

I honestly have no idea. From what I've seen in Waterstones they have less than the others but they may have bought less. At one point on Amazon it was in the best sellers list.
