My first post and its a moan - Digitalrev

Hi Julia - I tried the e-mail address but it wouldn't work. I was just wondering about the priority handling that forum members get and how I go about getting that.

Hi Richard,

Do you mean that you have tried sending an email address to CS01@digitalrev.com and it didn't work? Did you receive a bounce back of the email? Please let me know and I can check it for you.

As for priority handling, please send me your order # via PM and I can arrange that for you. Thank you for placing an order!

FYI - by putting emails into public forums you are increasing the chances of getting a lot of spam , there are robots which harvest email address and then sell these on.

You really should remove your email address from your post.

Dem, I've had a 650D for about 2 weeks now, bought from Panamoz and it's one without the grip problems, and it really is a terriffic camera. I actually bought it for the wife but I've used it about as much as she has already. I've got a 5D3 and a 60D already so I should't need to use the 650D, but it's really good. The touchscreen is excellent, really nice and responsive and the ISO ability is great. Just ordered a 40mm 2.8 STM lens for it to try the video side of it. I can't see it replacing my 60D as I prefer the bodies with 2 wheels and top screens, but apart from that it's well on a par with the 60D. Stick with it and fingers crossed you'll get it sorted, but you could always have a look at it here http://panamoz.com/index.php/digita...s-650d-with-canon-ef-s-18-55mm-is-ii-kit.html as it's a great price.

Time for an update!

Being critical of DR, the emails sent regarding how my credit card was suitable were mostly ignorded. All I got back were the generic 'very sorry' emails.

However, once I paid by PayPal I saw a different side. I recon that DigitalRev processed and posted my order within the hour of my payment being accepted. A nice new shiny 650D then arrived within 2 days of the processed order. That's 2 days from Hong Kong to the UK. Outstanding service.

It has to be said that the price I paid was outstanding as well, some £180 cheaper than Amazon (whom I have huge respect for, but they seem to drop the ball on camera prices).

However (again) it's not all roses in my DR buying experience. My 650D has a '1' in the sixth serial number which, many websites state, is the batch affected by the product recall.

So, in fairness to DR, outstanding price and delivery, communications prompt and efficient. It's just a shame that, if I understand things correctly, my camera has to go off again due to the product recall.

Would I buy from DR again? From a price and delivery point of view, hell yes! I will let you know how I get on with the recall aspect (not DR's fault, but a bit silly to send it out knowing that it was going to come back. Again, if I have understood the product recall correctly).

Will do Dave. Ta. Too tired to do it now. The fun can wait till the morning.

On a separate note, why did no one warn me about the focus assist used by Canon.

There was I, eye pressed against the view finder, about to take a picture, shutter half pressed, WHAT THE **** WAS THAT??? Nearly pooped myself...

I have lost considerable cred with my missus...

You can disable the "disco strobe" in the menus and just use the AF assist in external flashes.

The AF in most newish Canon models copes pretty well without the AF assist in all but very dark conditions.

Enjoy your new camera & enjoy being on this forum & remember to post some pictures. Lastly thanks for the update which is reassuring for me as I will be buying from DR soon.
