Hi everyone, my very first photography website is now ready for viewing.

andrewbenaliphotography.com

I've been doing photography for almost a year now and have nearly completed my college course.
I am using the website as a way to showcase my work as well as a way to gain feedback from others on how to improve my work and the site.
The site is a working progress and more images and information are being added as and when I take more pics or receive constructive feedback.

I only have basic equipment at the moment, Canon 350D and Canon 1000f 35mm film SLR. I trust that the keen eyed amongst you will be able to tell which images are done with which!

You will notice that a lot of my work is HDR, I did this mainly as an experiment for a college project and found that it gave great results especially with a somewhat limited camera. I intend to upgrade soon to possibly a 40D or 50D and hope to get better single shot results. Any tips there would be great.

Also at the moment most of my work is landscape but with a new camera and lens will hope to do better pics out and about and especially of people, a recommendation on a single lens for both of these would help to!

Thanks for looking and I look forward to any comments.

Without sounding too cruel, it isn't much of a website. It doesn't make good use of screen space and there is no menu. Also it is difficult to figure out what category each image represents. It's a good first attempt but hopefully with a few changes you can make it much better.

On the photography front, I think a lot of the HDR images have been over cooked. There are a few that stand out for me but it's difficult to say which without them having titles! I think you are underestimating your camera, you shouldn't feel limited with a 350d as it has all the features necessary you get your foot into the photography door.

Keep at it!

Thanks for those comments, will be updating the site soon to include more information and better navigation.

Cheers.

You also need a description tag (which preferably should be different on different pages) if you want to get indexed on Google and other search engines.

Unfortunately also because of a lack of any descriptive text on the pages you will probably have difficulty getting indexed anyway.

You would also have been better coding it in XHTML and PHP which would make updating the site much easier.

Also using virgin media as host is NOT a good idea - a much better idea is an independant host and your own independant domain name.
