Hi

Having had a few chats with Betty re event photography and discussed sharing thoughts and ideas to help us both out I thought I would mention it to a few people at work.

Today I approached one of the guys here who I know is a coach for a teenagers rugby group - to ask him if he would mind me going along one Sunday to get a few shots of the lads playing rugby, as this as area that is way out of my comfort zone and thought I should at least have a go at sports.

I explained to him that my passion was people and I was looking into portraiture and events photography and he asked me if I would come along to take some group photos of the lads and their respective coaches to use to promote their club etc..

He also suggested that once the parents hear about this they will probably want individual shots of their lads in the rugby kit etc.. and would be happy to pay for them.

I am SO excited that this could be my first paying job :woot:

Congrats!! Thats great to hear :) Shows how a bit of initiative can pay off!

Cool ! Good luck

Well done mate! Lets hope it goes down a storm!

well done you
take spare battery/battery grip - they don't like the cold
(but you knew that!)

Yippee! :woot: You'll have to post back soon with progress :D

Well done you!

To help with sales, have you thought about uploading the shots to a website for the parents to view/purchase? You could give each child (or parent,) a card with the website details, (and password for the event if required,) and they can contact you with a file ref for prints?;)

Best of luck!

I had thought of that but have not done anything with the idea yet.

I continually see an advert for a website that is £35 pa - its basic to use and you can upload as much as you want too... does anyone know the one I mean?

If not, does anyone know a good cheap/free place to get a website that would cater for the abov suggestion?

If you've got some free space with your ISP use that and JAlbum to sell prints online with payments via PayPal or use Photobox's free space where you can also sell online and have Photobox do all handling of the orders for you.

Nice one  Just shows what can happen if you put yourself out there - inspiration to us all.

I think a PM to Kelak (I think I've remembered the right TP user) may be worth a shot - she does alot of rugby photos if my memory serves me right so perhpas could give you a few pointers as to shots that work vs shots that don't

Oh wow Deb ... how cool is that!!!
Good luck... looking forward to hearing how it all works out.
