I dunno, I doubt it, its mid 70's, probably average metering. you need an F5 for matrix probably.

That's b/w, you should be souping that yourself, its too easy not to.
So when you say they are very contrasty, is that a scan, or a neg ?
not sure that you mean.With anything high street based I would take scans/prints with a big grain of salt as they're usually of much inferior quality compared to getting a good proper lab to do them, and the results usually don't reflect the actual quality of the images at all.
Souping that, I take it that's developing?

You sent your film off for developing and you received back your developed negs ?, scans of the negs ?, prints ?...from which of these do you deduce "very contrasty"
There are things you can do, before, during and after to effect contrast
You're gonna have to look at the negs to evaluate contrast, both the prints and the scans will be "processed", that is edited/adjusted by machine and may not represent your take on the scene.
