4. Weeks? Are you overseas?

WooooHoooo welcome to Filmville!

Let's see 'em!

woohooo, shall we have Roberts prepare the sherry for when they are posted? :D

I'll give CCimaging a go. These were taken to Max Spielmann.

No disk drive on my Mac so I need to get into the loft for my old laptop.

Overall, I'd say 90% are pants :)

I have another film just about used and for the next film I'm going to get out for the day and record the settings for each photograph to see how they worked.

Cheers.

I dunno, I doubt it, its mid 70's, probably average metering. you need an F5 for matrix probably.

you need to take on an old skool mind sett...lol

what film are we shooting ?

Just Googled and appears to be centre-weighted.

Film used was Kentmere 400.

Cheers.

@posiview

That's b/w, you should be souping that yourself, its too easy not to.
So when you say they are very contrasty, is that a scan, or a neg ?

With anything high street based I would take scans/prints with a big grain of salt as they're usually of much inferior quality compared to getting a good proper lab to do them, and the results usually don't reflect the actual quality of the images at all.

Souping that, I take it that's developing?

Scan or neg, not sure that you mean.

Thanks, I'll take my next one to CCimaging.

I watched a few film videos this morning and the Kenmore 400 was mentioned as was a load of others, some I'd heard of. Might order some Ilford 100.

Cheers all.

You sent your film off for developing and you received back your developed negs ?, scans of the negs ?, prints ?...from which of these do you deduce "very contrasty"

There are things you can do, before, during and after to effect contrast

I've only looked at the prints so far. Just booting up my old laptop after months of it being stuck in the cupboard and it's having problems starting.

I received prints, negatives and a CD.

I also used my DSLR to take photographs of the same scene to compare. By contrasty, what I mean is the sky looks almost white, which it may have been, but everything else looks quite well exposed.

Your second sentence interest me but I'll see what folk think when I finally post up some photographs.

Cheers.

You're gonna have to look at the negs to evaluate contrast, both the prints and the scans will be "processed", that is edited/adjusted by machine and may not represent your take on the scene.
