Got my first film camera last week, it makes my 450D Feel like a toy!

Its a Canon EF FD mount SLR. Isnt it pretty?

Have 50mm, 35mm and 135mm lenses, and i ran a cheap roll of ISO 400 film through it. Really enjoyed taking some more time with my photos, manually focussing isn't too hard once I got the hang of it!

I think i might overexpose them a little next time, though it may just be tesco's awful scans! some were filthy!

Though after waiting half an hour for them to find my prints they did give me them for free!

Exactly... I've still got a Medium Format film set up for just this reason....

I suggest you get a film scanner at home. These can be had pretty cheap on eBay.

My local Tesco (at Watford) has reached "excellent for the money" status erm for some reason...out of 4 films in two weeks there were very few spots and the scans on CD were very good.
Latest Tesco dev and scan:- either Vivitar 28mm f2.8 or Vivitar 28-85 Kobori made zoom, fuji superia.... out of the two shots I couldn't see the difference on a computer screen.

Anyway congrats on using film and with Canon FD lenses you can get near or close or equal or better in IQ, shots you see posted from expensive DSLRs with their expensive lenses.
Canon FDn 28mm f2.8, superia 200, about 16X20 print, bright light on right is caused by flash taking the shot of my photo....yeah I know I should have taken the pic down and photographed it properly without flash, in natural light.

I'd bet it's just that.

In my experience most cheap developing, printing and scans from supermarkets are rubbish. I've used them for various things when I want quick colour prints but always end up scanning the negs myself for much better colours and at a higher resolution.

Hope you are enjoying 'real' photography :D

they will develop, scan digitally to CD [I dont know how], no prints

then you upload to PC, edit, print

Thanks for all the replies!, i've been looking at a 24mm lens on ebay!

I'll check out that place for processing and scanning too.

Alistair, which scanner would you recommend, what do you consider 'Cheap' ?
